Hey all,
Looking for a little advice on costings/timeframes regarding fabrication work and exhausts.
Basically I need a spherical joint cutting off from the end of a stainless manifold, a flexi tig'd in and some sort of replacement joint - potentially a v-band clamp or a standard flanged one.
V-bands look to be about £30-50, a flexi about £25, then what, maybe 3 hours labour assuming it can be done in situ on the car?
Cheers!

I think the biggest issue is if you can actually get access to weld it on the car. Normally you cant get in to weld all the way around on the car you have to tack it and remove it to weld fully.

yeah that is indeed a potential issue. I think I'll need to drop it down but we'll cross that when we come to it.

I wouldn't expect 3 hours, my local longlife guy can knock an entire system up in that.

I wouldn't expect 3 hours, my local longlife guy can knock an entire system up in that. Hmm, that’s kind of what I was thinking. Fully respect people’s skill sets and you get what you pay for, but can’t help feel the quote earlier of £4-450 for materials and fabrication was a little on the excessive side. Place seemed great, just wondering if there’s something I’m missing and that is indeed the going rate for tig fab!

Massively over-priced that, I've got a 8N TT with 3" downpipe and system out to 2x 4" tailpipes that cost £400. Where about are you based?

Was your contact franchised or a one man band?

Just a 2 man band. Real friendly, just wanted to do my homework so I didn’t come across as a fool when questioning the pricing!
