Didn’t see a place to introduce myself , so I will jump right in with a little about me and my car.
I am a Brit living in the states, and have always loved cars,, always gotta have something to fiddle with, I love finding old broke down cars and fixing em up, and selling em on, not trying to make a huge profit usually a couple hundred per car went back to me!
Anyways, I have always had a soft spot for the series jag xj6 didn’t matter, series 1 2 or 3! Just love the lines!!! Fast forward to 2005, finally found one with a solid body but that’s about it on the positive side, interior was shot, paint was shot, Engine ran, but barely!
So I set about fixing her up! Engine was simple
Enough, a good tune up, new vac hoses etc and she purred! Found some seats in a junk yard that were in decent shape, just wrong colour, tried my hand at dying leather! Epic fail!!! Looked like I had spray painted the seats!! Lol, at least they were now the right colour and not shredded, threw on some seat covers and was happy with it! Next was the wooden dash, found one from a vdp with the burl on eBay, bought that, refinished it and swapped it in, interior looked ok now, on to paint.
A mate of mine was a paint and body guy, so I slipped him a grand and car came back to me looking drop dead gorgeous!
Drive it around a few years, blew a head a gasket, car sat for 8 months before I got to fix it , when i did, I noticed. Other things were getting tired, door cards were warping, seats starting to tear again!
So now I am asking myself, what to do?
Start over? Or cut and run?
Nahhhh, that’s not an option I love this car!
