As the title really.
I am looking to try a snap off steering boss in my Porsche, due to the recent instillation of a bucket seat trying to get out at a petrol station is comical and I’m wondering if this will help.
So I am after a small spline VW steering boss, these are VW Golf up to Mk2 I think, some corrados, Polo, even classic beetle I think.
I am also after a steering wheel to fit this boss, ideally a non dishes type of wheel.
If you have anything suitable please get in touch.
Thanks.

Some mk2 golfs have small and others have large spline.
I have a bucket seat fitted and you do get used to slithering out of the seat.
Did you fit it on a slider?

Some mk2 golfs have small and others have large spline. I have a bucket seat fitted and you do get used to slithering out of the seat. Did you fit it on a slider? I wasn’t aware of that! I thought the small spline ran up to MK3 but obviously not. I’ve had a few cars with buckets in the past, but I think the lower steering column in my porsche, the fact I’m much fatter than I was many years ago combined with the bucket seat that I’ve had to buy which is a wide boy special with very high bolsters has just made it somewhat comical. I am wondering if tipping the seat back a bit might make things easier. I have to go for one hand on the tarmac and roll. You know what, I was reading your build blog the other day and it got me thinking. I am pretty sure I have the same boss you originally bought in the garage somewhere. I’m pretty sure I bought it as a MK2 boss second hand for about £3 however when I got it out the other day it has MK4 stamped on the bottom, so that was a no go before I even started. I guess my hopes here was to find a low quality and therefore cheap wheel and boss, which I could combine with a cheap snap off boss just to see if my theory works. If so I’ll buy a proper boss, BG snap off connector and a nice Nardi wheel. Thanks again chaps.

I'm fairly certain some 944 wheels were small spline. Didn't they do a smaller diameter 944 wheel? I think it was the smaller wheel that is the small spline.

Get a slider on your seat subframe if possible.
