my old mate had some wiring issues with his alternator on his petrol express , its a valeo alternator
he's basically taken all the wires away after a small fire.
we have tails in Heavy Red wire Thin black wire thin Orange wire Thin Grey/Red Heavy Brown with white lines
Any info much appreciated 🙏

Heavy red will go the battery via the starter in most cases. Heavy brown/white will likely be earth, simple to check with a multimeter on continuity with a known earth point. The other 3 will consist of a 12v exciter from the ign+ to "start" the alternator, an output (usually labelled as W) for a tachometer/battery warning light and another output to an accessory such as field regulation or a split charge relay etc.

does anyone have a picture of how it should look under the bonnet ?
