The racing was the biggest lure for me, signed up for the VWDRC private test in August, so was interested in watching the racing for that on top of my normal enjoyment of drag racing, and watching Sportman and Pro with a bit more knowledge of the people racing etc It’s still a bit strange out there though, and having lost over a year of shows it was enjoyable to be standing in a field with some old cars I probably enjoy Action more, but I get the impression that BugJam is as much about the entertainment, and since I prefer to stand around engine bays than dance I’m probably not the target audience which is why it was more fun for me 30 years ago Actually, the other thing is that Lucy has won free weekend tickets to a beer festival, which sounds great except it’s on VW Action weekend, so I’m probably not going to get there, so this was an alternative VW meet

I think this was at the only Bugjam I have been to back in 1991, The name Dolly Mixture seems to ring a bell. I went with a few apprentice's from work as we knew a lad ( Andy Parrott) who had built a Beetle and was debuting it at Bugjam, he did quite well with awards. He spent almost 3 years building it and sold it after less than 6 months enjoyed the building more than the showing of it.

Nice pics. I was watching the live stream on Saturday, missed Sunday. I haven't been since Bug Jam 20!!!! 😀 I stopped at about bugjam 6 (what year were the Meteors and Neds Atomic Dustbin on stage? Not sure if that was the last year I went) stopped going when it became more about the party than the cars Think it’s better than it used to be, I’ve just been dipping my toes in the last couple of times, from what I was told it was a complete contrast to the week earlier (summer nationals) a different crowd and this weekend was the first week without the rules I guess. Which is possibly why it was quieter on the Sunday, they’d all worn themselves out F**k me what a musical line up 😎😍

Did that too I had issue 1 (Sept/Oct ‘87 (?)) through to mid 90s and got rid of them maybe 20 years ago. Should have kept them… now I often remember things that I’d like to look at again
