Just moved to a house with a decent sized garage. Its around 22.5ft wide (though it has just a single up and over door and a personnel door) and is nearly 20ft deep. Its got a toilet room in one front corner which takes up a bit of space. Theres wooden stairs in the back left corner.
Currently it looks like this inside. Theres a massive 3ft x 8ft heavy workbench in the back corner running along the back wall though it needs some work to the top as i think it was used as a lathe bed or something as theres holes for massive bolts running though it. I think it'll get moved to the left of the garage door running front to back.
Theres a load of space above in the loft. Theres around 6ft 6" headroom.
Not sure what the plans are at the moment, though i think with some go jacks a second car could be fitted in.

That is a sweet looking space. So much you could do in it, enjoy!

Makes a change from my old single. I've got a bit more sorted out today. Still unpacking boxes of books, clothes and kitchen stuff.
Bench needs some work.
Stairs are now clear so i can get up to the loft easier.

I'm still looking for ideas on what to do with the garage space. Some wall mounted cupboards are needed to get stuff off the floor and the walls will get a couple of coats of white paint. Theres only 2 strip lights which are pointless so some more will need to be installed along with some more wall sockets.
Its hot as hell up in the loft so some insulation and plasterboarding will be needed up there to make it more useable. Roof structure is made of 125mm timbers and the PO left 5 bags of 100mm thick wool insulation which will save me £100 or so. Plasterboard is expensive though.

Plaster board isn't expensive, go to a merchants not B&Q. your stair looks tight for access though so you would probably be better with 6 by 3 sheets instead of 8 by 4's.

My garage is a slightly different arrangement, but I'm planning on putting some full height shelving down one wall for parts, paints, etc. based upon the standard size tote box - something along the lines of these:
Also in my experience the more you can keep mobile the better, so planning on a moveable welding table with only one fixed bench.
We'll see if it pans out that way of course!

Theres a 4ft 6" gap between the stair railings and the corner post, though with the ceiling height being only 6ft 6" getting an 8ft long sheet up to the loft would be next to impossible.

I've another full height shelving unit too which is slightly narrower.

I have indeed. My old single had a build thread on there around 8 years back before photobucket f**ked over everyons threads. I just wish i had some of the 20k sq ft spaces some of the american guys have. Its knowing what i can fit in the space thats the problem. I need to sort it all out to clear the space before i can start adding stuff back in. Theres still a couple of big items of house furniture in there that need moving (some upstairs ) before i can clear it out completely.

Demolished the old workbench which the PO built by seemingly nailing random pieces of 6x2 together. I now have a nice selection of varying lengths of 6x2 plus a few 8ft long sheets of 18mm ply, though they're only 20" wide. Created a pretty decent space.

The pile of 2x6 timbers and some 3/4" ply ready to make my new workbench from. Theres also a 10ft long 13" wide butchers block for the top. I'm planning on a 5ft long and 26" wide bench, using the 3/4" ply as a shelf just above floor level. Metal filing cabinet makes a nice tool store.

Moved some stuff around in the garage this afternoon. Big bench is now in the back corner with its tool board screwed to the back wall. Kitchen island will find a new home soon as its too wide to fit the kitchen in the new house. Cut the 10ft butchers block in 1/2 so its now only 5ft long which will make a 5ft x 26" bench top.

Heavy duty bench! Nice job! Cheers. Its nearly a 2 person job to move it so i decided not to bother bolting it to the wall or floor as its unlikely ever to move.

Got some stuff nailed to the wall above my workbench today. I still need another 12" magnetic strip i think.
