Not quite a Readers Ride thread, but close so thought I'd stick it up.
In 2000 I was 17 and BMW had just brought out the 330dand Jenson Button had not long got caught doing 143mph in France in one when he was driving for BMW Williams, almost as if it was some sort of PR thing.
The same year my godfather bought one. I was really excited because it arrived five week before I passed my driving test so I could finally get my hands on one. Or so I thought, it was made pretty clear to me that wouldn't be happening.
My godfather renewed the manufacturer warranty on it every year and had it serviced at the supplying dealer up until about two years ago when ill health meant that he could no longer drive. He parked the car up and sadly passed away a year ago. The time has now come for something to happen with the car, so I bought a new battery and went over to the house today.
It now had 65k on the clock, and must be pretty rare having main dealer history from new (with the last few missed as it has been off the road) and one owner. I've got first refusal on the car, but I'm not sure if I'll take it up or not at this stage. I want to get it cleaned up, put it in for an MOT and go from there.
Opened up the garage
Put the new battery on and turned the key
It is pretty filthy so I'm planning on going over soon to clean it up and send it for an MOT to see where it stands.
It has led a cosseted life and was bought for London to Scotland trips, of which it completed many in the early days. More recently it had pretty light use as shown on the MOT history
Not sure if it will come on fleet, I've said no several times but a) it is a bit unique now and b) it would be nice to carry on looking after it.
Edited to add: I took a picture to show the wall carpeting to protect the car in the garage
