One of apparently 3 left in the UK (1 is licensed and 1 on SORN, according to howmanyleft.co.uk, this one is not showing up yet on the database)
I got this lovely Honda as a part exchange a few months back. My plans were to fully restore it to its former glory. I also own a few other cars, including Honda Accord 3 gen (Aerodeck) and this one is preserved well in terms of rust/corrosion.
I am the 5th owner according to the logbook. VC5 is in my name.
The car comes with loads of old MOTs, going back to 1989. There is also a bill of sale from 1989, where I would assume the car was sold to the second owner. There is also an original Handbook, along with Honda Price List from 1983 and Honda Accord brochure and newspaper advert. The car comes with genuine 3 keys, one looks like it has never been used. This car was not permanently used on public roads since June 2007, when it failed MOT on minor points. It has actually done only 275 miles since then, ca 20 since I own it, done on private roads. It was dry stored since 2007 for most of the time. When I got it a few months back I started gathering spare parts and replacing those that needed to be replaced. Spent around £700 on it since then. I will list below what has been replaced/done and also what is still to be addressed although not urgently needed.
What was done recently:
Replaced:
Spark plugs
Distributor arm
Distributor cap
Ignition leads
Air filter
Oil filter
Oil including new oil drain plug washer
Coolant including proper flush
Radiator cap
Installed a net for the cabin air intake so leaves do not get in
Refurbished steel wheels: sandblasting, zinc coating and powder coating in silver metallic, just like the original ones
Installed New wheel nuts
Installed an aftermarket mud flap since one of the original rear ones was missing
Did a proper clean of the interior and exterior
Spare parts available (New):
Front discs and pads
Rear brake shoes
Timing belt
Rear silencer (Bosal)
Spare oil filter including drain plug washer
Track rod end
Cylinder cover gasket
Oil sump gasket
(I can get all of the above addressed for the buyer, if needed)
Still awaiting delivery of the DX badge for the boot lid, which was ordered in the USA.
Overall, the car is in great mechanical condition and drives well. I drove it on private roads and also took it to a test station to check brakes etc. One track rod end should be replaced as it has some play. Brakes work well so I did not change discs/pads yet. Bodywork has minor rust spots which can be easily addressed, nothing major for a nearly 40 year old car. The paintwork is not great at a closer inspection. Ideally, the car should be fully resprayed, which was my plan. That is one of the reasons I still have this car abroad, where I planned to get it resprayed. I can still get this done for the buyer, if this was an intention - the paint shop I was meant to use does a great job at a reasonable price.
Front number plate is missing although I am organising for this to be reproduced in the same font style as the original one.
Photos presented were taken over the course of last month. The ones where Honda is on Zender Star alloys was when steel wheels were being refurbished. The Zenders change the look of the Honda considerably, they look period correct, when compared to Honda Brochures from the 1980s. Those are not part of the sale but can be added at extra cost.
400+ photos that show all of the details, including imperfections, are shared via Google Photos Album: photos.app.goo.gl/pXpduDnnrph4hYCC6
As mentioned, the car is currently abroad and it would have to be delivered to the mainland UK. This can be further discussed and arranged.
I have not listed it elsewhere yet, although this was my plan, will probably do it over the weekend.
