still working on the roofline, shape is coming nice now, surface is still not as good as i would like to have. one of my working pictures to show how the roof is integrated now forming the greenhouse i was looking for. Was hard to loose the typical MX5 look coming from the windscreen frame . Even that the fra me is to original high for my eye is not that visual problem anymore. not the best pictures but showing the roofline realy nice. rear hatch area to roof is going to be finished soon, started to set up the gaps still have a lot of small imperfections, 1 will sand 2 times more, after i let it like it is. A nice guy i know is specialist for restoring and painting old 911 Porsches, he is interested to work on my car, he will visit me in the next weeks to see how bad my prep is and how much work it will be to get a perfect paint. If iam able to pay for relativ normal money i will do it and use saved time to speed up and take car about details.

I'm liking the overall shape and the love the rear, the only thing which I am not sure about is the triangular window, it might be the photos but it looks a bit too close to the tailgate and not close enough and parallel to the door glass.
They never used to put the windows in when making styling bucks, they would get the shape right then refine the window shapes using black film and tape.

Agreed, but then they get the glass made to fit, these kinds of builds have to start with the glass as you don't want to tool up for 2 side windows for a low volume build. I love the shape so far, but it's hard to appreciate the overall form from the pictures. I can kind of see what Kevin means as the B pillar looks like it's wider at the top?

did the same with a traditional formed side window, decided to use that one because most other glass shapes are to big for that tiny coupe. Didnt want to use perspex or any other plastic, what ever they coat it with it will be scratched sooner or later. Last reason for that shape is i would like to have that bullitt design a Mustang has, so i can add different kind of designs with that type of glass

its the position of camera, and if you look close the side window is not glued, so its only placed and at the end the mounting position will be a couple of mm higher so the upper and lower gaps are the same At the front of the glass is a pin holding the glass in place and correct position.
B Pillar is parallel otherwise it would look stupid
thanks for feedback

Looking forward to seeing some pictures when it is out of the garage, camera perspective, when close, is always a problem. It does look very good even so!

when the buck is going to my painter for final prep and painting i will shot a lot of pictures! Only thing it will be painted black to see every imperfection so we can correct before moulding, the lines will not perform as well as in any other colour.

problem with pictures iam to close for a side view, any picture from side is done from next room to my garage looking through a open door!

reason for setting the quarter higher i would like to see is the curved line for the rear wings, because the rear of the MX5 is relative high, you have to lift up over the center of the rear wheels, otherwise the line will stay flat like an MX5. But the optical line between side window and quarter is still a nice one.
But thats the compromise if you do a rebody , doing something from scratch could look perfect, but i don't want to assemble my car maybe years before it runs and handles well, i like driving, not building.

I did wonder if it was the camera, the original bullitt mustang had louvres there that could look interesting as well.

Working this weekend on the surface of the roof. Now its time for more rough work, so i started to shape the left rear wing feeling a little lieke at the beginning of that project, roughly i place foam, fiberglass and the wheelarches togerher, look now to a couple of reference points to get the shape after first time. before starting i placed the 30mm distance, wheels is now out like the right side, measurements will follow now in every direction to avoid time consuming failures again. now iam able to start shaping again

first time looking closer to that picture, strange camera position, looks like the car is only 80 cm high, or if something heavy was falling on the roof! As always s h i t happens, when lifting up the car for adding the distance on the left side, the car twisted a little , so the area between roof and windscreen surround is broken now, was thinking to laminate from inside and add metal fixings later, have to add before i will repair again the outside Order this set now before doing any repair again, original i was thinking to use on the real car something like that to eliminate any squeaks from the roof. What i will add on my car will be a brazing to get the stiffness of a 15 year old car back to better than new. Its amazing how things like that will stiffen the roadster body, for me something everybody should invest when restoring a MX5 and take care about handling, together with a new suspension this cars handle like a dream! so that 500 Euros are a good investment for having fun!

had only little time today, upper rear wing is roughly shaped now, heights are nearly all corrected. will do the lower area in the next days, when the rear wing is complete the correct radius will be done. could not resist to open the hole for the fuel cap, will be a nice detail, and opening will be from the inside like the original Mazda item was! Guess the next update will be on weekend, have to prepare for a job i would like to catch, will be automotive again, Director Sales Europe, keep fingers crossed, would be something i really would like to do.

while working on rough things i have time to think about details. When looking on the roof from back you will see there is a round left and a more edgy right side, its the area where roof meets the side and the door window. will change the look to the edgy version from the right side, left is a little to round for my taste , even edgy means only a smaller radius and a difference in height about 3mm it changes the look and improves the line. sometimes i wish i would not be trained to look at such details from my automotive job.....

working on the rear wing i started to close the first holes, rear lip will be the first area to correct now have to correct the waves in the area where the lip touches the lower body. next i have to change is the radius from the left side rear, i changed it on the right side to get a slimer look, so a lot of work before it looks like i want it
