Given the treatment (in either direction), would this count as a retro? Base spec with keep-fit windows obviously. Even the "modern" bits (engine excepted) are basically from a 90s Renault.

Saw this, and wondered if you could convert to RHD using old bits (guessing most of the bits you need wouldn’t have rusted away, but not sure you’d find them..)
They do a commercial version which is what interested me

Definitely for me, I was amazed when I realised it was a brand new one! Good price at £12k IMHO too.
I’d fit steels and get a generic early private plate to hide it’s newness.

Given that it looks much the same as they did in the '80s I'm going to go with yes. Shame they are only available lhd.

Love it. If I were loaded I'd hand one over to someone like Singer.

This is a 110% YES!!!!
In a stunningly eye-burning hue (as they were when first launched in the late 1970's) and with a set of basic steels this would be a true retro gem...
I would not even bother trying to convert to RHD! I'd keep it LHD for extra 'exotica' kudos.
Land Rover could have learnt a lot from the Niva when making their ridiculous (that's just my personal opinion. It should have been the new Freelander) new Defender!!!
Simplicity and originality is the key.
I'd love one of these...

It turns out it's £12k plus VAT or £17k including VAT on the road for the base model which comes on steel wheels... The most utilitarian version: Steel wheels, manual windows, no air conditioning. • 1.7 litre four cylinder petrol engine • 5 speed gearbox • low ratio gear setting • differential locking system • IVA approved for use on UK roads £16,995 including VAT on the road SELF REGISTER OFFER* : £11,995+vat 8 week delivery (sometimes less) That in cloud white...

I’d definitely roll one, but I do have memories of just how badly and quickly they used to rust.

My worst worry about dying is my wife selling my stuff for what I told her it cost...

I like the look of the Niva Vision concept, but it's a bit Dacia. No surprise seeing as Lada is part of Renault.

I wonder if the same changes that have allowed the Niva to be imported again would let a new UAZ 452 be registered in the UK? I've always liked the look of them...
