After a long, long, seemed like forever wait this arrived in the UK last week. Bought it in February and had to wait for it to be transported over from Portugal, cars originally from Mozambique I have wanted a Datsun since before I learnt to drive and especially wanted a 1200/sunny so when this came up I told myself I should get it as I'm 30 this year, seemed like a good excuse 😂

Interesting alternative to a Ford Escort Mk1, by the looks of it. Does it have a variant of the A-series engine? What are your plans for it?

Very nice, but the wide steelies on it look pretty cool - are they original?
What's caused the bonnet paint to craze so badly, do you think?

The steels do look good on it but being only 12" i couldn't run bigger brakes haha, they are definitely original wheels as they have nissan stamped in them and 12x4 but there is no way they are 4j look more like 6j
The bonnet used to be white by the looks of it, seems to have been badly painted at some point in its life too and then probably been left out in the heat

Few bits started during the week, it had no brake fluid in it and the master was loose like someone had taken it off before so I pulled it off to have a look As expected, not great but managed to find a rebuild kit. Unfortunately it is coming from America so that's stopped that already Next up was sorting though the electrics, got fed up of trying to look at things under the dash so we pulled the dash out and removed the wiring loom Found the headlight switch was a bit dodgy so pulled that apart and cleaned all the contacts and it works perfectly now Managed to get all the electrics working that didn't work before apart from the reverse lights. Not sure what to start on next but I'm sure more progress will be made over the weekend

Looks like a solid old thing. They are a delight to drive, very light and quite nippy, and they rev really well and have good top end. A world apart from a MK1 escort etc. Great turning circle too. Almost a shame to fit different bits in the suspension etc, it will probably make it heavier.

It isn't too bad for rust luckily. Hopefully it won't be too long before I get a chance to drive it and see for myself haha

Love it! Very cool. Any plans for the engine? I was thinking about this last night, it would suit a CGA3DE from a K11

My plan has always been to put and SR20DET in it, used to have a nissan almera gti that I turbo'd which had a SR20 and it went so well and sounded good in my opinion haha was around 300bhp Also if I did use a Sr it'd match the coffee table in the lounge
