I've been sitting on this project for a while. Shortly after I started this discussion I sold the Morris and my Jag to finance a ready-to-drive classic to enjoy with my family, the Minx. No regrets making the sale, and the Minx has been a great buy, I've thoroughly enjoyed driving it and taking the family out, and have put what little fabrication time I have into the speedster, but the idea keeps niggling. I saw this in a local magazine and it brought the project back to me. I couple of months back I found someone selling a pair of lowlight Minors as a project, and I enquired about the lesser of them, assuming it'd be beyond my meagre budget. We had a brief discussion, then the listing disappeared, so I stopped thinking about it. I reached out today after seeing this article and it turns out the car is still available...

As much as I love Horrido’s rendering I think I want to pull a little more MORRIS minor back into it by retaining the rear quarter window and some of the factory bumpiness. Excuse the shading, very much a work in process, but I think the lines are getting close. hoping to get to the point of a factory concept car feel rather than all out sled.

I like it a lot. That nice curve on the door glass. Two thumbs up.

I like it a lot. That nice curve on the door glass. Two thumbs up. Very closely tied to your rendering (as you can see by the backdrop). Just a touch more hump to the boot and roof backs. I loved the look of no rear quarter as something completely out of the box for a Minor but I just couldn’t get the rear pillar size to sit right for me for a near-production custom. I wanted to keep the roof so the curve off it flows into the middle of the rear wheel, and while I tried extending the door further it just became comical, you nailed the length (to me) first time. I have secured a donor vehicle to make this a reality, will move all this goodness across to a build thread once I have it home.

My mate Kenny has been making this stretched and chopped moggy on a herald chassis running an mx5 engine and box.

I know your talking about a low-light, but that makes me think concealed headlights -or at least behind wider grille... And horizontal mounted rear lights so they look even less like the VW lights.

The first Minor I chopped got a Hillman Minx Series 1 grill which fitted a series MM quite well. Not sure what to do with headlights if I was to make the same mod to a lowlight, but it’s got potential…

I like that, Chrysler thunderbolt & Buick Y-job style.
Modern projector lamp units replacing indicators then LED indicators & side lights behind grille?

No updates of note for the Speedster, just sourcing parts. I now have some great 30" Dodge wheels, a front axle they should fit, a Ford T rear axle and drums, and some salvaged sections of T chassis to turn into crossmembers. I see what you mean on the hood/bonnet shape.
You could wedge cut that ( I did that on a '46/'48 Chevy, a lot of work, but it makes a big difference )
The low light just looks so much nicer, as a starting point...
