Hi I've had a look on the Copart site and around ebay and there are loads of good parts available. However when applying for BIVA, how much of an evidence trail do you need. If something is written off, how much of it can be reused? On the same note is it worth going through Copart with the hassle of registration etc just for a dfrivetrain?

As I understand it, theres a number of classifications of ‘write-off’ and what you can use ( if anything) depends on the class its put into
I know it’s been revised not that long ago, and I’m out of date so someone more intelligent than me will be along to clarify shortly.....

As I understand it you can use any or all of it, it just cannot use it's original identification and must pass a BIVA test. www.gov.uk/vehicle-registration/rebuilt-vehicles"Vehicles with a Certificate of Destruction (CoD) must never reappear as complete vehicles or be presented for registration, though some components may be recycled. You cannot keep the original registration or vehicle identification number." Many scrap yards do not understand and will not sell anything that has a CoD on it. Keep receipts for everything as you may need them further down the line. The evidence trail varies depending on the final registration e.g. new or Q |

Having just gone through it for my Haynes Roadster, it wasn't too bad. I just kept receipts for all the major items, including the V5c and proof of scrappage for the engine donor.
I think if you're going to be on a Q plate, pretty much anything serviceable could be used from a write off.
