My housemate has a exchange Ford cross flow (bored out Lotus cortina) engined Caterham and our challenge for this weekend is to get the curse word back in.
We managed to drop the engine out, and will try and replace it the same way. Has anyone had experience of this job? Or know of any websites that can guide us.
Cheers!

Hey, a new guy, welcome to the forum, so what do you drive/what are you working on at the moment. I'm guessing you're into Locosts and Scoobies?

I would say that the two Sevens in the piccies are a Westfield SEight and a Caterham R500. But then I'm sad like that.
Little known fact: the spaceframe of the Locost is very close in design to a Westfield SE, although IIRC the Locost is a bit bigger at the back. In the book Champion gives the impression that he saw some kit cars at a show and went home and designed his own. He must have photographic recall.

Hi!, I'm 14 and building a GSXR1100 bike engined Locost (to hillclimb). My dad owns the red scooby in the avatar, and is majorly into retro cars, he used to co-drive a rally mini in the late 70s, therefore so am I. I read the Retro Car magazines after he has ;D.
Devilsadvocate, you are right about the picture. Westfield SEight Hillclimb car, 2002 Subaru Impreza STI, 2004 Subaru Impreza STI, Caterham Superlight R500.
The locost is basically the same as the pre-lit westfield.
I'll get a couple of pics up tomorrow.

Must be our youngest posting member, welcome to the forum. Your Locost sounds like it's getting on better than the hopeless case Hillman Super Imp racer I was building at 14! (Talk about history repeating itself, I've got a hopeless case of a rally Imp on my hands at the moment! ;D ;D)

Back when I was fourteen I thought I was clever tuning a Yamaha I175 to give YZ levels of power. Hats off to you.
