I have for sale my 1998 (R990OUS) Ford Mondeo ST24 finished in stunning panther black.
Some history with regards to the car before I continue. I purchased the car last year from my local auctioneers without a V5 as the car was originally purchased and owned in Guernsey. The previous, and only, owner also owned a property locally and would commute between his two homes. He loved this Mondeo so much he used as it as his daily car until he passed away. Despite the mileage the car has been meticulously looked after with approx. £15k worth of history noted with Ford service history while in Guernsey and a local garage when in the UK. The Mondeo is now registered in the UK with an age related plate and I am listed as the first owner.
With part of the rigmarole (it has taken over six months) to get the V5 it was first put into a MOT. After a few relatively small bits from standing while his estate was taken care of it passed and has MOT until August this year. I have driven only a few miles since so I can't imagine it needing anything any time soon. It has 173k miles on the clock but with the way it looks and drives you'd be forgiven for thinking it has less than 73k on the clock. The engine is completely standard and feels like it's still pulling the 167bhp from the factory with it running sweet as. Gearbox works as it should and it drives exceptionally. I took this out today to give it a clean and take photos and it drives absolutely spot on! It is so quiet on tickover you can barely hear it running even outside of the car.
The bodywork is near enough perfect but there is a very small amount of surface rust on the bottom of the NS arch/door, bottom of the NS rear arch and NS just above the rear bumper. The car has had a full repaint from Ford a number of years ago and had some panels and bonnet replaced at the same time, all Ford. It needs to be seen in person as the photos don't do the car justice. Wheels are the standard four spokes with very good, matching Toyo Proxes tyres all around.
The interior is in very good condition for its age with just a few small blemishes here and there and a small amount of wear on the drivers bolster but I think with a bit of leather conditioner it will look nearly new again. Only thing not standard is the steering wheel (although is is standard Ford from a ST200) which I have replaced for better condition one as the original was very worn where he held it on the motorway (original included).
I have two keys and two alarm fobs (it was fitted with a Cat 1 alarm/immobiliser when he came back to the UK) and obviously have the new V5. The MOT certificate has been changed over to the new registration so the one I have is the British MOT with Guernsey number plate.
I'm looking for £2,500 for this fine example of Fords first ST badged car.
I have noticed these going up in price of late which people will probably garage and keep for the Ford tax to carry on rising but with the mileage on this car it'd be perfect for someone to actually use and take to shows. I would also trust a high mileage, looked after car more than a low mile show car.
