I'm out of cutting discs again. I removed the last of the big nonsense panels to reveal some significantly rusty but mostly intact trunk and drop panels. I set about cleaning up the welds so I could see what's left of the original rear seam of trunk. A good amount of it came away like this. The rust went further up than I was happy with so I took a look to see how the back end of the car was assembled. The trunk floor was welded to the rear valence, then the rear upright panel was welded to the L of the back of the trunk floor. I figured the best and strongest join point was in the middle of the top of the rear valence. I started removing the spot welds, and ran out of time. But, it's looking better than it did. Progress. Phil Amazing that the welder did not see the quality, or lack of quality. And someone paid for that. I do hope your patience stays in place.

The surface being welded to wasn't clean enough. The weld adhered to the freshly cut edge of the repair panel and not much else. My patience is good- getting back to original metal is better, that's repairable in most cases. Phil

Went get cutting discs. They didn't have any so I came back with paint. Let's see how that dries.

It's darkened up a little overnight, but my phone utterly destroys the actual color. It's much less pink than the image makes it seem. I think I may try get the darker purple and see what that looks like. Fairly cheap to do that to get a good idea of what it actually looks like on the car. Phil

Phil That colour or Plum Crazy would look great on your Fury. You gotta have the baws to back up Panther Pink, this one "only" got a 318 so it doesn't... Plum Crazy I prefer. This magenta/pink is good, bold and looks good on the car but it's really the equivalent of stuffing a pair of socks into your underwear. I'm thinking deep purple with a cream roof, black-n-cream interior. That and these wheels and trims. Phil

I went sweep up as there was quite a lot of car on the floor. With that gone, and the car wheeled outside, I stood for a while and thought about it. That magenta is just too pink. That's a moderately accurate representation of the color, out in the sun. I'm not sold on that, I'll get a can of darker purple and give that a try. That's the great thing about having to repaint it all- I don't mind slapping random colors on to test. Phil

Inside. Outside. It reacted because I couldn't be bothered to wipe it down. The finish isn't important in this case, the color is what I'm looking at. I like.

Your car and all that.
I actually prefer the sample of the lighter magenta/purple to the new darker tone.
The indoors tone also looks a better fit, than the darker outside pic.
Its a reasonably large car, and to me the lighter colour seems, Well, lighter.
Are there any pics of one of these in this new colour out on the web ?
PS. Not everything I say holds any truth or value......

PS. Not everything I say holds any truth or value...... Now that's what I call a disclaimer! But yeah, I kinda take Grizz's point.

definately your car and all that as grizz says, personally i would be going for a man from uncle ,the original 1960's series ,car colours , so metalic silvers or pale metalic blues , or greens,or of course bad man jet black shinyness ..the solid colours...for me...lose out on the fine sharp edges and blurs the details too much .

Didn't like the purple in the. garage but now it is outside I am a buyer. P.
