I want to buy a plastic auxiliary guage pod for my old BMW. I have found the one I want at Ireland Engineering in the US and the cost for this piece of plastic is $75! I could use an eBay jobbie but I want the correct looking pod so am prepared to be ripped off. The shipping cost for this piece of plastic that weighs curse word all and is about the size of a family box of matches? Another $85! So that's $160 for some vacuum formed plastic! Is there anyone in the USA who could ship it for me for a more reasonable fee please? Or maybe even search for either a used one or an alternative supply? www.iemotorsport.com/product/turbo-style-3-gauge-cluster-2002/Thanks in advance, Mark

Sorry, can't help with the import thing but I reckon you could knock that up the old skool way with MDF and glue/pins without too much hassle.
It's a pretty simple shape and some filler would get the nice curves.
It'd be a bit of time and effort so it depends on whether you've got the time or the cash :-)

I am in the same boat, I need a $30 part but being quoted another $50 for shipping and customs costs.
Could you use someone like myus.com to get a US postal address and have them forward it on to you? If that saves you money depends on what the shipping costs are within the US, and whether the $85 shipping costs include import tax / duty as some shipping companies handle that at checkout rather than invoicing you when it lands.
