Don't quote me on this as it's all so long ago now, but I think we discontinued fitting opening rear quarters when it became apparent that they could allow fuel vapours into the cabin from the low level filler. ….. driving classic minis I always thought the new car smell was 4 star ! Yeah. It's why so many people got car sick back in the day, because of all the unburnt fuel vapour from badly set or inefficient carburettors seeping into the cabin. Cars have become so much more capable since the advent of electronic fuel injection and computer controlled ignition systems. |

Could be, or I guess it could be a trim level thing? My 82 MG doesn't have them, and my sister's X reg 1.0L didn't have them, nor did mum's W reg 1.3 HLS. No idea on the later models as mum's replacement VP was a 5 door. Looking at our family car history, can you tell one of my Dad's best mates ran a Rover garage?  |

Along with dates it’s trim level too My 82 vanden plas metro had them from factory   Be interesting h to see what year all mointi g points were put in ( whether belts were actually fitted) of if they were in from day one |

I thought rear belt mounts were a legal requirement from the early seventies. My 1970 Beetle had them, even though belts were never fitted.

Maybe lap belts, I know my dad waited for the 1st mk4 escort in 1986 to get factory fitted 3 point mount rear seat belts, he bought a brand new red 3dr Escort 1.3 Popular Plus on a D plate. |

IIRC rear seat belt fitment became mandatory on the 1st of April 1987. Lovely Metro BTW.  |

Time to replace anti roll bar clamps When I say clamps … I mean hose clips Original clamps found on eBay … followed up with new u bolts … again eBay to rescue . Weekend job when weather kind    |

Took off highly professional and expensive roll bar clamps ( will resell on eBay) Put on cheaper NOS genuine clamps   Quick cut down of threads  |

Not very exciting, but interesting Exhaust started banging away …. After a disassemble , tweak/ twist of angles and a trim of rear valence lip with an angle grinder ( similar to minis which had a small cut out to stop exhaust banging on bodywork) got it to fit better ( wasn’t fouling anywhere) And after ordering rear hangers and a strap ( which I didn’t use….. yet) I noticed mid section hangers were …… torn. Managed to find a new old stock rubber ( one will have to do for now) ….. £1 ….. possibly back in 80s maybe later …. With inflation and postage cost me £5.     |
