What’s not to love here, it’s BL, it’s A series and it’s brown and green. 😍

rob1380 your Metro looks awesome - colour and period spoiler are perfect. I am a big fan of the standard steel wheels but what have you got in mind? Bookmarked! 👍

Bookmarked! 👍 Thank You Would love to keep the steels but they are metric ... so paperweights I’m putting on my minis 12” steels with winter tyres at the moment ( not ideal but better than the death traps) I’m either going to go for 12” metro steels or pepper pots Anyone got a set of either please drop me a line

rob1380 definitely the pepperpots if you can find them. The other steels are from memory from a lower spec example 🤔

Nice, waxoiled one like this in blue for a friend once when she bought it from an old boy down the road. Done just after it had had replacement wings so It lived way longer than most after this ! Agree metric wheels jar looks wise, would have had posh trims on steels wouldn’t it ? Good luck finding some pepper pots. James

Love this car 😁 So basic its awesome and a true survivor of a Metro 👍 Thanks, The plan is to do things to it to improve modern day driving and use-ability while still retaining its unique 80s charm/ basic design.

Love it!
Learned to drive in a Metro then used to drive my Mum's when I passed my test. My wife had a couple too. Many fond memories, would like one myself 😎
Look forward to seeing it's progress.
All the best,
Andy

Love this car 😁 So basic its awesome and a true survivor of a Metro 👍 Basic? HLE is a posh one ( not quite as posh as a VP but close!) compared to some. I had loads back in the day and a few years ago accidentally bought a mk1 City Special at a local vintage auction. One mirror, one sun visor, no heated rear screen or parcel shelf and fixed back seats are a few of the things that make it special 😂. HLE is positively palatial in comparison 😂

Mechanic's rule #1... If the car works, anything left on the floor after you finished wasn't needed in the first place

How does one accidentally buy a car? Love this. Remember looking at one in the dealers in the mid '90s and comparing it to my then daily ADO16.

Cool. I’m in. 😃🤣
Ditching the metric wheels is probably the best course of action. My uncle had a metric wheeled one from nearly new, and when the time came for it to get new tyres (late 80s) it worked out cheaper to buy five new wheels from Austin-Rover, get them painted, and put a quality set of Dunlop tyres on them than it was going to cost for four new Michelin metric ones. Can you even get them now, let alone at a sensible price?

My worst worry about dying is my wife selling my stuff for what I told her it cost...

Why are metric tyres even a thing? Their gravity is such that not even light escapes.
