There’s 40 pictures below – they’ll describe it better than I can!
1978 Mitsubishi Colt Sapporo GSL. Garaged most of its life and in lovely original condition. It’s been looked after by the previous owner (30 years) and me (10 years) and has not been restored. It is an authentic 70’s car with 68,300 miles and is tax and MOT exempt. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed owning it.
The Sapporo is fitted with a 2L 4G52 engine which is responsive and runs well. The auto box works as it should and changes smoothly. It has disc brakes all round and power steering. It’s a very usable classic and will keep pace on modern roads. Oil pressure, coolant temp and charge system are all good.
Paint and vinyl roof are tidy. It's shiny and very presentable. Odd mark / bubble etc as per age and not concourse. The only noteworthy ‘damage’ is on the lip of the rear arch (photographed). Underneath is rust free and I don’t believe it has been welded. For a Japanese car of this era it’s in incredible shape with all the notorious areas clean and tidy. It was undersealed in the 80's and I’ve kept ontop of it. Likewise it’s been kept indoors and not driven when wet.
The interior is good. Original AM radio with single speaker in the dash. There’s a hidden Pioneer FM radio/USB/Aux stereo with a remote for more modern tune-ige! This runs through 2 rear speakers. Seats are all intact, heater works, dash lights up, all controls etc work. It has a tan steering wheel as the original went sticky. Could be coloured or perhaps fit a period wooden wheel. The original wheel and centre will be included if you’d like to repair it. There’s a few other spares too.
When I acquired the car 10 years ago all service and ignition related items were changed along with tyres, backbox, re-cored radiator, rebuilt carb, new suspension boots, belts and fluids. The engine is chain driven. It’s had a few oil changes between 2012 and now. It comes out for a few shows but otherwise receives infrequent use.
I’ve had no troubles on 200 mile journeys to Beaulieu motor museum. Runs on unleaded.
Included will be some manuals, brochures and a map that probably doesn't have the M25 on it! I have some receipts for work I've carried out.
Viewing is fine but I need notice. Sensible offers considered. Happy to work with a delivery service.
