I am looking to put Jenvey ITBs onto a Jaguar XK i6 from a 420G. I have all the necessary bits and bobs to do the plumbing in but the ECU is a very elderly Alpha Webcon PI042 and, even if I could find someone to tweak it, I think it might be safer to upgrade to a modern ECU.
I’m not keen to go down the home brew Speeduino or Megasquirt route and I know that proven solutions already exist with the Emerald K6 and with Omex (including get you started maps) but I was wondering if anybody had tried and had been successful with the old Jag i6 and the EMU Black, which looks like really cracking vfm?
Grateful for any thoughts (or indeed leads on who still has the PI042 software!)
Thanks
Peter

i know this maybe not so helpful but the microsquirt ecu for the price is fantastic. All pre assembled, works with the tuner studio, etc etc. I run it on my BMW and it has been faultless, and it comes with a VERY detailed guide how to wire it etc.

Thank you. Not unhelpful. But I was thinking at least as a start that what is gained on cheaper kit might be lost on hours of piecing stuff together that someone else has largely worked out already on a previous customer!. And I’m not overly hot on doing computer related stuff myself so would prefer someone to poke in the chest if things don’t work out P

I’d see what your tuner is happy to tune.
If you understand the software you can assist, but obviously sometimes prefer to do the lot themselves for obvious reasons.
As an example (and here is one can of worms opened), a mate of mine had a Rover on H-Tune. It was turned via a guy up North for a fair amount of cash. It ran very well.
However, my friend wanted a turbo’d car to run at 14.7:1 AFR @ what. Forums in the States told him this is where peak power was. He railroaded a few chaps to this and they slowly had to back away from him, including the chap up north who tuned his car.
I’d also research good tuners in your area and see what like minded folk think, not what the magazines tell you or the sponsored links.
As one example, I know of two people who have very different opinions on a well known ECU outfit mentioned in this thread. One thought he was fair and tuned his Phantom GTR 5 pot. Another friend felt he just took his money and lost him power on a race car.
