No real progress on the Landrover but should complete the story of the summer in it. I got married in August and very lucky to have a wife who entertains my interest in old cars/vans etc... so was great that we were able to include it on the day. It was also the first time I got the landrover in its natural habitat... a field :-)
Here it is with my fleet :-)
I've got threads on the Transit here: forum.retro-rides.org/thread/191459/1978-mk2-ford-transit-autosleeper and the Capri here: forum.retro-rides.org/thread/143682/1984-ford-capri-2
Back to the day it was really useful and I used it to shuttle stuff down to site and then was used as the primary flower carier.
Just after leaving this spot it did leave a rather large oil spot... thankfully I hadn't parked it on my new in laws drive as that would of been embarrassing.
On the day itself I parked it up next to the caterers Defended Pizza oven and decked it out as a photobooth :-)
Not my photo as I was a bit busy so Credit due to Jacqui Mcsweeney (our photographer) who actually took some pics of the cars dotted around :-)
We also had this cool Bedfore CF Icecream Van, very much an retro car themed vibe to add to the Defender, This Landrover, my Capri, our Transit and my parents VW T4
Again credit Jacqui Mcsweeney
We had campers staying on the field, so the Landrover again came in useful the morning after as a tea/coffee station with the hob getting a good near constand 2hrs of boiling kettles to refresh everyones head.
Also on the clear up it came in useful and I actually properly used the roof rack. This was taken last week though just before I finally got round to taking stuff off it.
Bit sad really that its taken this long but did finally actually get to drive it this weekend after about a month sat idle and it started up first time with a touch of choke so took it to Croydon and down the allotment.
Do love bouncing around in this thing and I reckon its loosening up. The suspension is less jarring than I remember it. I did lower the tyre pressures a few months ago, but definitely its improving since. The only thing I noticed was the steering wheel felt a bit loose... and it was a bit loose.
The screws holding the wheel to boss had come undone so after some fingertip tightening to get me home, I swapped them out this morning with some m5 Stainless nuts and bolts that I had lying around from the last time I refurb an astrali Steering wheel :-)
Old Screws here
Last Astrali wheel I used the nuts and bolts on out of the Capri
Finished job with the new bolts on the landrover wheel
Cheers for reading, hopefully next time will be a bit more of actually doing some stuff on it
