	I've had all sorts of Japanese cars and several Impreza's. But with prices on the rise and having always had an itch for a pre impreza 1st gen legacy i picked up this old 2.2 GX from a mate minus engine and gearbox for reasonable money. She's quite scabby but should be a good base. I'm told the classic impreza can swap over all its running gear from suspension and hubs to engine and gearbox. First job will be making the shell a bit more presentable whilst i source a rusty old impreza for the mechanicals. I'd like to build this in historic rally spec form but with other project going on we will just have to see where we go with it.

	There is a very strong scene here in Switzerland for 1st gen Legacy Turbos. Looking forward to your take on this.

	Very cool project. If it were me I don't think I could resist turning it into a Rothmans or Camel rally rep. I'm currently doing big restoration and a new round of upgrades for my classic Impreza track car, but a leggy has way more cool factor. 	This project is on hold a little bit as the McRae car is more important to get done and out for auction. But i had in mind to source a complete car to help with parts for both cars. A pal of mine who bought a Type RA engine off me about 7 years ago, which is still running spot on in his other car had this lifted gravel express for sale. I got a good deal and the bits i don't need are worth fair money. When all is said and done the running gear should owe me about £900 which includes an STi gearbox and diff so pretty happy with that. My mrs was a little upset that ive gone from 2 cars to 5 in under a week haha.

	I have been sitting on this project for sometime now whilst we sell the race car, finish the McRae car ready for Sept auction and get the Unimog done. I am looking forward to getting stuck into it though. As i manage a rally stage ive been chatting suspension with a few crews that have been testing. Proflex offer a group N damper unit at whats considered reasonable money in the rally world, £1200 a corner!! I also scavenged some original later 4 pot brakes for it off the Gravel express.
