So for a longe time me and my brother have bin into everything that has an engine and until now we have only had mopeds, quads, motorbikes etc. but never a classic car. So when this popped up around my brothers workplace we could not say NO The guy we got it from hat just had it made road worthy after being sat in a showrrom for 12 years. There are som projects on it that will have to be done but it is mot'd and ready to use

Lovely! I have a 1998 E280 with 36k, which has also been hibernating for most of its life. What are the plans for it going forwards?

Lovely! I have a 1998 E280 with 36k, which has also been hibernating for most of its life. What are the plans for it going forwards? There is a longe list of plans but the general theme is to get the worst things sorted while keeping the history and patina on the car. Then we would like to ad some period touches and have already begun this List of problems - Flat paint, needs polish and corrected the stonechips - rust under the rear window - rusty exhaust needs replacing - the rubber plate connecting the axel need replacing - lubricate the joints for the steering as they make a terrible noise - new seal in the boot - clean the interior - soundsystem needs improving as the original radio is struggling for signal - tha cruise control dosent work - no lights in the instrument cluster - the wooden trim is delaminating everywere and needs to be taken out and reglued and probably a bunch of other stuff some of the stuff is already done and i will update the thread with this The former owner had the brakes refurbished, new fuelpump, new battery, new generator and som smaller stuff.

RUST!!!. Enemy number one and after close inspection not to bad on this example. Only place was below the back window. I am an engineer and my brother a agricultural mechanic so rust was not our cup of tea. Therefore we found a local guy to help us out for around 1300 pounds including paint We are very happy with the result and can now rest at night knowing the tinworm is gone at least for a little while.

- no lights in the instrument cluster Have you checked the dimmer adjustment for the cluster? I've been caught out on W124's like this! Give it a few turns to see if the lighting comes back on.

Yeah we believe it is the fault and have just sold a wire between so now it will have lights but no dimmer haven't tested it yet though

Nice one, must be bloody expensive to run that in DK though! They can be especially if you import them now, the danish goverment charge you a tax based on how high the original price was back in the day so cheap cars are cheap to import and expensive cars are now insane. this was imported in the 90's so no problem here but importing a new one would be maybe 10.000 pounds in tax to register it. Where it was maybe a quarter of that before. Gas prices for one, is also crazy in Denmark, when you fill the 90 liter tank with octane 99 it will costyou about 120 pound But cars in Denmark is in general bloody expensive as an example a BMW m3 coupe from 2010 with 100k miles will cost you 50.000+ pounds

Been there, done it. Denmark is motor hell in my experience (and so is Ireland if you run something old as a daily, also from personal experience).
