Mercedes 280SE W126 1983 "Der Kanzler" und "mini kanzler"

So onto next thing on the list of projects. The wooden trim on this car did what almost any W126 will do at some point, its wooden trim released it self from the aluminium plate it was attached to meaning som of the trim was flopping about. My brother and i decided to renew the glue holding it together instead of ordering a new trim set. we choose this because it is the cars original interior and because a complete trimset would probably cost around 1000-1500 pounds. under the disassembly it was quickly clear that not much glue was holding the trim on the dash and only the trim in the back and on the center console was perfect. The trim we did take of had a little bit of cracks in the clear coat on the wood, but this is not something we are looking to correct as it just ads a bit of patina to the 37 year old car. What we did discover was that both the wood, the aluminium and even the wooden structure behind the aluminium was separating. So we separated all the pieces including parts that had bin reglued sometime with a glue gun. Then we used the same glue that you would use on windscreens as this can handle the heat on a hot summers day and it will bind almost anything. We have currently glued the aluminium pieces onto its wood reinforcing it but now the problems starts as we want to glue the wood to the alu. This is just not duable on all the pieces as some of them have warped so much it would maybe break if forced on. We tried steaming a little trim piece but this did now have much effect so if you guys have any idea how to soften up the trim please let me know :/
