We had a 505 estate as a family car when I was young, I loved it, so I'm looking forward to this. Bookmarked

Blimey, I reckon that spring nationals flyer has been in there since slater had it 😲. Was part of our little local club and we regularly did this as well as the more local to us street rod nationals. Nice to see it again, good luck with the rebuild 🙂

Mechanic's rule #1... If the car works, anything left on the floor after you finished wasn't needed in the first place

Cheers all, getting a go at it tomorrow get her running again hopefully, can't see it taking more than some fresh fuel as she turns freely, and once I'm back off from work some tidying up, have a look on the ramp see what's what and if all is well straight to the paint booth. I realise the world of old school cars is never usually that simple but fingers crossed. Get the wiiiide wheels back on! Looking forward to seeing your take on it having recently read through Slater's original thread. The wheels that were once on it are now nothing but a distant memory, the previous owner doesn't remember who bought them, where they went or even if they ever saw a car again so the hunt for the correct wheels is well and truly on.

Sorry, what I mean is it did suit some wide wheels - doesn't have to be the originals, what have you in mind?

May I be the first of hundreds to tag slater in this? Pleased its being re-boso-ed and not restored. Even just some f-k off banded steels to the same specs would suffice to start with.

As Dez mentioned the idea of some wide banded steels in a contrasting colour to the body is my first idea, alternatively I really like the idea of some wide mesh style wheels. Not certain yet but I'll know the right wheel when I see it

Quick update after hairdoo and I spent a few hours out on a pleasant Scottish evening saw a massive leap in the right direction. After a few pints of super unleaded washed down her throat and a fresh battery donated from Hairdoo’s Transit we have life! Starting on 3 initially a quick blast around the estate saw player 4 enter the game and she runs like a top. Service parts sourced and I’ll get them ordered should see the engine like new again. Getting a quick drive round the estate also helped in seeing if there were any nasty creaks or groans and I’m pleased to announce other than spongy breaks and a rather flat Rovello she drives like a dream, if indeed your dreams are about questionable 80s saloon cars. Whilst ticking over a quick check of all the electrical items was conducted and gold stars all round for them as well! Apart from the drivers door window which ejected itself and we had to quickly reinstate before the unheard of Scottish rain fall started. All in all a super successful day, next will be the service, up on the ramp hopefully to get the brakes looked at and the missus has kindly offered to pull the interior out and clean inside top to bottom. Somewhat period head unit and disc changer donated again kindly by Hairdoo, couple of shelf speakers needed to complete. Apologies for the longwinded, little action update but progress is progress

Was more than happy to help. If it keeps a retro rides legend alive and entertains people it's worth it.

look forward to the resurrection I might be particularly grumpy this morning (50th birthday, so I'm now twice as likely to die if I get covid!) but please don't do the massive arches... I love a modified car, so I don't mind almost any other treatment, but that looks so good without the arches. Maybe Kanjo if you want to stick with a Japanese theme? It looks mega from the rear-quarter views...

It looks mega from the rear-quarter views... Funnily enough I have seen a lot of these images whilst scouring the interwebs for inspiration. The car will require arches of some sort fabricated and I've a vision of how I want it to look but only once I have wheels sourced and trial fitted will I know what I will be going for. Finding 13x10 or equivalent sizings is difficult, for me anyway as I've a very specific style of wheel face in mind and nothing I can find so far fits the bill. A guy not far from me has a set of wheels which hopefully I'll be able to get a look at soon so watch this space.
