This is a first attempt at this sort of thing, and it’s only meant to be a cheap (Ish) bit of fun, so I’m not gunna take it to seriously The Trad/ primered look is perfect for that. Its inclusive in the same way Punk was for music. A reaction to the style that came before it ( Pastel paint, dripping with Billet, 1-800 exercises in spending money ) BTW, the SoCal based club the Shifters like to say they were the originators of the revival of the Trad Builds, ignoring that they were beaten to the punch by the UK based Low Flyers ( and tons of people that were building Trad cars on their own) And that they invented the term "Rat Rod", which may not be true either...

But from the front axle line forward, that truck is a mess. I bet its even worse from a 3/4 angle. ....and you would be right in that assumption............. still the rest looks ok to my eye and the bed shape/length looks about right for Pork's chassis.

To me, this is one of the best ones of the buildstyle. Compared to most later cars, its pretty short. But he got away with it by cutting the firewall so he could set back the engine, and it would sit back behind the grille and radiator where they needed to be for aesthetics. A big commitment, because there isn't that much room in a chopped and channeled truck to begin with. What I don't like about that truck is that the top of the grille doesn't line up with the top of the cowl... ( actually, to be visually "right", the top of the grille needs to be about an inch down ) If it was mine, I'd have to change that...

I guess I’d need an engine and grill next to see how it’ll all fit I do like the idea of the pop grill, or early ford stuff ........didn’t realise they’re so expensive!!!😮

For a while, that buildstyle was known as Rudy Trucks, after its builder Rudy Rodriguez. Yours will be different of course, because you start with different parts, and that will bring its own aesthetic. But some of the things he did could work on yours. Here is a pic of a ( more) stock '35, so you can see how he moved things around...

That will drop down with the weight of an engine in it.

That will drop down with the weight of an engine in it. Still not sure what to go for I’d like something carb’d if you can suggest

A carb'd V8?? Rover 3.5 V8 or a Yank V8. Or buy an injection engine and convert it to carb.
