I have a very basic lead on a car that still needs to be advertised.
This is what potential seller said:
For a heads up it’s a 60 plate 1.6 Diesel about 107k miles, full history, ( had to be done by a vat registered garage to keep the 7 year warranty valid) passed its MOT in December so close to a full year.
Opinions, advice, experiences.
Please share.

My useless 2p. I kinda like them, like a modern day cube. My red haired friend bought one and she said gave her an actual soul.. Joking aside, should be okay as a modern, I believe they are on a timing chain too! If its cheap enough go for it, something different!

Check parts availability if you can.
Someone I know has a petrol one and the exhaust is rotting out. You can't get a replacement from anyone except the dealer and if my memory is correct it's about £500 just for the centre section.

Sally has a 13 plate 1400 Corsa on engine no 2 by 80k miles (she was a career for 9 years, so tons of stop start work) She loves it, as it was grannies inheritance and it’s red, but I know at some point it will need to go. Well, it will be straight to a custom exhaust builder then, make a replacement up, job done. It can only be that complex. I would be surprised if Parts are a real issue. Maybe some of you know more about that.

Absolutely. It’s not going to stop me, 99% of the time.

A mate of mine has just got rid of his 11 plate 1.6 diesel, had it for 2 years. Wasn't bad to be fair, easy to drive and fairly nippy. They do rot brake pipes (particularly the flexi's which are a banjo fixing to the calliper) and the pipes aren't particularly cheap. Also had an EGR fault, but other than that was reliable. Chain engine too.

Oh, 100% agree about going for a custom exhaust, but not all people are like us and this person used some of that steel putty to bodge it.
It did make me worry about others parts availability though.

Not a Soul, but we did own a 2007 Kia Ceed 1.6GSi for a few years. Perfectly a decent car. Not quite as nice to drive as the Focus 1 it replaced but as least as well engineered/put together.
Didn't do much to it apart from normal servicing. Only thing that went wrong was the clutch wore out (fair enough at 130k) and it wasn't expensive or difficult to do even on the drive in the dead of winter.
One issue that was starting to appear around the time we sold it (though not the reason we sold it it) was that the immobiliser would occasionally act up and refuse to recognise the key unless you took it out and turned it over. I did some reading about that at the time at seemed to be quite a common issue that would sometimes progress to the point where a fix would be needed. Normally fitting a new sensor coil would do it (not especially expensive and diy possible), but occasionally would involve another box of tricks that was main dealer only. Something to watch out for perhaps.

I believe there were rust problems with these, not serious but the doors. A number were repaired by KIA under warranty. I wouldn’t let it put me off though. Norman

Had a rethink on this car, Rather than sell it with issues, I’ve taken it in today and had it serviced, and a new set of glow plugs fitted. Also rebuilt the second key with a new case, so now has both remote key/plips fully working. Total cost, just over £300. The car was priced accordingly, so now the asking price is £1500, only £100 more than before, That’s still £500 less than the cheapest similar one elsewhere. Forgot to mention earlier these engines are chain not belt. Virtually full mot too.

I don't have experience of the diesel but my better half had a 10 plate 1.6 petrol and it was a good car that was faultlessly reliable and needed nothing apart from the usual servicing, brakes and tyres. The interior plastics were a bit low rent as you'd probably expect, but wasn't a horrible place to be and it happily took us on several 600 mile round trips to Cornwall.
