Hi all,
So, we moved from the UK to France last year, drove across in the daily, with the bare minimum of our essential possessions, and we're now settled here. Due to travel restrictions & various other factors, we left the majority of our furniture etc in our UK home, along with our classic/retro cars...
Yes - in an ideal world, we would've moved the cars across pre-31st December, but that just wasn't possible.
Question: has anyone transported vehicles from UK to France or other EU countries since 1st January? If so, we'd love to chat / get some insights.
We've tried to do a ton of research, but genuinely struggling to get any reliable info (quelle surprise...).
- I'm fairly sure that if we drove the cars, we'd simply board the ferry / chunnel with no requirement for vehicle import/export paperwork or customs forms etc, and no fees to pay. (we'll obviously be sorting the quittus fiscale & registration in France in due course).
- However, if I want someone to collect them, and transport them (truck/trailer/transporter) across the border, I think we'd need to complete various paperwork, pay some export fees etc, but getting any clear guidance on this seems impossible. I've reached out to a few companies, who have basically said "we've not done that yet, waiting to see how things pan-out", which is super helpful...
[NB! Cars all owned by us for a few years at least, but one isn't currently MOT'd (though does drive)]
Any thoughts?
Cheers!
Matt
