1989 Mazda 626 2.0 Auto

What a peach! This one popped up on my local FB Marketplace recently, and luckily I've ended up with it.



Registered in November 1989, it's first owner was Mazda UK, tying in with the Dartford KO registration, which is where Mazda UK were based. A gentleman in Billingham, Cleveland bought it at 4 months old in February 1990, and kept it for 30 years until he sadly passed away in 2019. The car stayed tucked up in his garage until a few weeks ago when his son advertised the car. It needed a new home as the house had been sold and everything needed to be cleared.

The owner had kept the car in the same garage all it's life when not in use, day or night, and that can be seen by it's condition. Mileage is 75k, and it's been serviced by the same local garage in Billingham all it's life. Sadly, most of the paperwork has been lost after it was thrown out following the old chaps passing.

Once I'd agreed to buy it, I got it over to my mate's garage where the servicing and MOT would take place...

It flew through it's MOT with no advisories last week, and once it's full service was done, it was nice to see it at my yard this morning. It's a 2 litre auto, with overdrive. A nicely spec'd car too, with a lovely velour interior, remote boot release and fuel flap release, four electric windows, an electric sunroof, power steering and central locking. No aircon.

Plans? Well, it's MOT'd, taxed and insured, so I'd like to get it out and about, but I'll wait until I sort a slight hesitation out. Perhaps the plugs weren't exactly right, not sure. Anyway, apart from that, it's great.
