Good evening all.
Following my passion for low spec, undesirable quirky VW's, i present to you my latest en-devour.
I'm the 3rd owner, (old lady owned from new), it's covered 77k, has never been smoked in, and has clearly been very well looked after in it's time on the road. Minimal rust, couple of tiny dents but thats it. Defiantly by country mile the lowest spec'd car i've ever owned. It doesn't even have a 12v! The seats make up for this however, as you'll see shortly.
Being a "Salsa", from factory it came with a fantastic line of options, such as:
Ash tray, but no lighter for you to light your cigarettes
A Tilt/slide sunroof
No rev counter, you get a lovely clock instead because you weren't good enough to own a MK3 Golf
and thats it for spec. Moving on.
So yes, as you can see, i couldn't say no. However, i've obtained it in a state of disrepair, a certain significant other decided to hydrolock it. I've got 3 spare engines, but as this is an SPI, the 3 MPI's i have share absolutely no parts. Lovely. As it's a very early MK2, it's very different to later cars. Even the top mounts change, so finding parts to fix it has been a mission. Few notable differences on early ones being, all SPI, aerial in the wing instead of roof, long front wings and clip on bumpers rather than full size plastic ones.
Engine out, cleaned within an inch of it's life. after inspection, nothing is bent (Somehow??), timing had been thrown out, so i'm just rebuilding the head now and then putting it all back together to run about! Being MK3 golf based, there is plenty of room for say a VR6 later down the line. (literally bolt in, providing you have a donor car)
Anyway, here's how it's going to be going.
This will be a nice simple little car
