Was hoping to get time to get the paint and bodywork completed on this over the next few weeks, but new project arrived and struggling for time and space. If it sells sharpish as is then all well and good, if not then I will complete myself.
The van comes with a 1.5 beetle engine and gearbox which has been removed from the vehicle and washed with gunk engine cleaner. I bought this vehicle as a non runner back in august 2018 and managed to get it running as fault was found to be the ignition switch. I bypassed it and have since purchased a new one which is included in the sale. There is no end float on the engine at all but when we got it running the guide tubes began to leak oil which is a common fault on these engines. All the tin ware has been sand blasted and powder coated black along with fan housing. There is a lower section of tin ware missing that goes under the barrels. Some of the exhaust is there but was heavily corroded. The engine mounting bar and gearbox mounts have been sand blasted and powder coated black.
All glass comes with the vehicle apart from front window screen which had a big crack in it when I bought the vehicle so has had to be thrown away. Van also comes with a new set of mirrors and most of the rubbers are there too.
Dormobile roof is included in sale but needs a fibreglass repair to one of the corners. 2 glass windows and rubbers are included but the 2 plastic sky lights were cracked so were thrown away. The Rubber seal is also included, roof would benefit from new hinges and straps to lock it down which are available from dormobile website. The van has 2 hammocks that come out with the roof and I have had the poles sand blasted and powder coated. Lots of the chassis has been repaired and replaced and the only bits left that I am aware of is the front drivers side section that connects to the front beam and the offside rear section where the shock absorber connects to it.
Both rear chassis legs have been replaced with new sections from alan schofields along with both rear d-pillars.
Front panel has been replaced with new, font grill has been replaced with new, both front wings have been replaced with new, front inner and outer drivers door step has been replaced with new, cab floor has been repaired, off-side sill has been replaced with new panel, offside rear wing has been replaced with new, both lower rear quarters have been replaced with new, near side rear wing has been replaced with new, rear inner and outer valance has been replaced with new, both rear battery compartments have been replaced with new, rear engine lid hinge panel has been replaced with new along with new hinges, most of the gutter strips have been replaced. The sill under the sliding door has a small section the needs finishing which is from a small hole that was made to gain access when fitting the rear wing. original colour of van was golf blue but was painted lower half baby blue and top half English white. I have had a lot of parts sand blasted and powder coated like the bumpers and the firewall which goes between the engine and fuel tank compartment. The cargo floor was repaired previously and inside and the the rear of the van has been finished with a bar coat primer.
All doors and engine-bay lid are solid. No petrol tank present.
Front door cards are included along with cards for sliding door and opposite side to sliding door. There is a Westfalia rock n roll bed and cushions included in the sale but no kitchen etc. Dash board and clocks etc are all included. The van came with a for fiesta seat in the front and have since tried to adapt some bmw seats to fit which will be included in the sale. The lower seat belt securing bolt will need welding on the inside of the wing and is included in the sale.
In summary, this is a great project, it needs a few hours of welding and finishing and will then be a case of filling, priming and prepping for paint. Keys and v5 present. Delivery can be arranged at cost. Thanks, Matt
Current buyer keeps messing me around regarding collection- hasn't left a deposit to secure the van, and keeps changing his mind for collection dates (and so very in-conveniently, messing up my plans also) that's another evening of mine, that he has wasted.
I even sent him a very competitive delivery quote at trade rates, after he asked for one- which he promptly turned down.
SO STILL AVALIBLE- CURRENTLY (UNTILL HE ACTUALY SHOWS UP WHEN HE SAYS HE WILL).
