Had the pleasure of seeing not one, but two of these lovely 1981 Datsun Bluebird coupes last week owned by a Datsun hoarder. Never seen one before in the flesh. I'm not going to lie, the one like the blue one here got me salivating! Only difference was the 80s mags he had on it. Any other Japanese coupes that tickle your fancy?

Has to be this generation Toyota Celica for me. I’ve had a white and a red one (Sadly not the GT4) very reliable and such a great drive. Not seen one on the road for a long time.

I'd probably go Celica too, but a TA22 GTV like this beauty:

Mitsubishi Starion Turbo, had mine for 5 years and it never broke down, never needed anything except servicing, occasional tyres and one exhaust back box. Had it remapped to appox 200bhp and it was epic for 1983, fantastic car, loved it.
Mine was a narrow body version but the big arched ones that came later looked the business in an 80's big shoulder pads kind of way.

juggernaut 110% correct answer! hotfuzz I see one this shape when I'm out and about locally with the kids I work with. Parked in a driveway, not moved for years but every time they see it they love it... ...still not quite a Starion, though

1986 Nissan Leopard Ultima. Quite a simple shape, but well-proportioned. Also, check out the digital dash and the buttons on the steering wheel.

If you don't want a Nissan Leopard, the equivalent Toyota Soarer is... much the same. The Soarer also came in a version called the Aerocabin, with a folding hardtop. The proportions are a little challenged in this spec:

^ That 1987 Nissan Leopard is absolutely lovely!
I think it has to be 80s Japanese coupes for me - those angled lines looked the business!

I could spend a lot of time doing this... 1965 Nissan Silvia:

So many Skyline GT-Rs to choose from. This is from 1973, it's a racing car in the Nissan Heritage Collection, although it could easily pass for a modern restomod:

I could spend a lot of time doing this... 1965 Nissan Silvia: Is that a concept / factory original? It's amazing how over-wheeled / over-tyred that looks. Even a subtle drop on smaller wheel/tyre combo would transform that as the body is gorgeous. More than a hint of an Audi 72 of the same era imho

This is exactly what the production Silvia looked like in 1965, amazingly enough. The stylists must have had a word with Bridgestone/Yokohama to see what tyre sizes they could provide. Here's an interesting comparison between factory and aftermarket wheels:

So many great cars over the years to choose from impossible to narrow it down so here's a pic of my 'modern' (22 Year old) Japanese coupe.

But having said that this thread wouldn't be complete without the inclusion of the late great HKP Celica.

Couple of my picks already gone (that exact C110 was on of my 3 Car Garage picks on the podcast). However I absolutely adore this CROWN Coupe: DSCF0120 by Retro Rides, on Flickr To be honest nearly all of my favourite coupes are Japanese, Laurel C130, Toyota Z10, Starion, Mazda Cosmo, RX3, 510, KPGC10, C110, Silvia, Celica, and on and on and on. Oh and the B310 Sunny coupe
