And the saga continues
Short story- blew up the original engine, 1999 model with plastic plenum and black injector plug on injector no4
The replacement engine is an earlier model with a cast alloy plenum, but of unknown origin although it’s another p38 lump
Changed the no4 injector and the engine harness because the early stuff is not compatible with the later ecu etc
New electric fuel pump, new fuel filter, new leakoff pipes, plenty of diesel in the tank
Tried manually bleeding dozens of times, poor supply on a couple of injectors
Ive heard that the injector pumps are coded to the ecu, but cant get a definitive answer on that
Engine will kick and fire for about half a second and then just cranks again
I'm leaning toward the injector pump either being faulty or not compatible with my ecu etc
Any bmw gurus out there?
TIA
