Hi all Have just started t he strip and refurb of a 1984 Holdsworth pop top campervan. The interior is dated and pretty worn. So far I have disconnected all the electrics, water and gas and stripped out the units. I will be fitting a new, modern interior with fridge, smev sink, split charge system, upto date mains hook-up etc. Cheers - mike

Looking good so far. Can't wait to see how it progressing. I should finish the strip out on Monday weather permitting. Most of the parts are here for the build apart from the furniture board which I'm due to collect on Monday. Cheers - mike

Hi all got a bit done on the T25 today. Started early and went over to Grimsby to collect some furniture board before my supplier goes into lockdown. After lunch I set to stripping more of the interior out. Most of the lining has now been removed along with the carpet and all the wiring. Getting the lining carpet of was a nightmare as it was pretty rotten so just came off in little bits. I also found the mains wiring insulation to be almost totally chaffed through we it runs through a hole in the bodywork with no protection! On the whole the vehicle is sound with just a few bits of corrosion to deal with. Tomorrow should see the last few bits removed and I can make a start on dealing with some of the holes in the floor etc. Cheers - mike

Hi all
got a bit more done on this earlier
I have cleaned the floor, derusted all the areas that needed it and then rust converted them. I will prime them this afternoon and seam seal or paint.
I also removed the old mains inlet, it was loose in the body as the screws had rusted away and appeared to be mainly held in with double sided tape.
I have modified the new one to take larger countersunk screws and its now bonded in as well.
I have also sorted out the routing for the mains cable as previously it was run through some holes that looked like they had been hacked out with a chisel and the wire had chaffed badly as there were no grommets fitted. She now has proper holes drilled with grommets fitted.
Cheers - mike

hi all got a bit more done this morning. Removed the drivers seat to get at the main battery and the remains of the old split charge system. The old set up was well passed with signs of overheating and burning on the relay and wiring. The new set up is voltage sensing so only charges the leisure battery when the main battery is close to being fully charged. I should get the wiring in for lights this afternoon and start fitting the insulation. Cheers - mike

hi all got a couple of hours on the t25 this afternoon. First job was to repair the side louvre window. The front top pane was loose and had come adrift it one end as the screws had rusted away. Getting in to fix it was a real pain as one false move and the glass could get broken so I went steady. I managed to reposition the end that had come away drill two new holes so that I could re fix it. I have used stainless self tappers so it should last another 34 years. Next job was to run the wiring for the lights which went ok. There will be a led strip light above the cooking area, led lights at the passenger side rear and in the centre roof channel. Just need to get some self adhesive pads to secure the loom and she's done. That's it until Monday. Cheers - mike

Hi all have been steadily working through the vw. The insulation is fitted to the sides of the van and these have now been ply lined. I have stripped out the roof / top bed area. The boards have been stripped, refurbished and covered in lining carpet. Both bed supports for the rear bed have been remade and bonded in. I have also cleaned of all the red paint that was on the roof trim and carpet lined the panels that go around the front seat bases. Weather permitting, I will have the side and front door panels remade and covered with lining carpet this afternoon. Cheers - mike

Hi all got a bit more done on the vw today. The drivers door card has been remade and covered in lining carpet. I have had to order new clips as it keeps popping of at the bottom. I have had a good tidy and hoover through as there was lots of dust and rubbish building up. I have assembled and trial fitted the rock and roll bed. Its actually for a T2 and T25 beds are not available anymore. The fit is ok but the standard upholstery wont fit very well. Cheers - mike

Hi all got a few unexpected hours on the vw today. Made a start on the carpet lining. The main part of the roof is done bar a bit of trimming and the awkward bits above the door is done. That's it for this week. Monday should see the last bit of the roof lining done and the new wood floor and flooring down. Cheers - mike

Hi all had a steady day today Made a new board for the rear door, covered it in lining carpet and fitted it. Went over to Wickes to get some 12mm ply for the floor. The original was only 6mm thick which I think is far to thin. The wood floor is now fitted, I used stainless screws for this as the original floor had been fitted with mild steel screws, most of which had rusted away so there was nothing holding it down. Also made a start on the units, the kitchen end panel and the fridge support panel are made. Tomorrow should all the panels for the kitchen unit finished. Cheers - mike

Hi all had a steady day on the vw today. Git a few bits of trim made and all the parts for the kitchen are now made except the worktop. They have taken quite a bit of finessing as there's a 10mm bow in the floor. I will make a start on the wardrobe panels tomorrow, weather permitting. Cheers - mike
