I think the wings will look a lot better cut off with just an inch or so left of the front like most of the ones in the pictures earlier in tnis thread. Try masking off the area to cut away with black tape until you get a shape you like. If you have to fit a markker light later a small led one underneath will satisfy the MOT man. We have a pair of the led 7" headlights on my son's minor they work really well. I am loathe to start cutting, and cannot recall which pics you are referring to. And the side markers may fit in the bumper if I can find a small, legal sized pair to fit. Do you have a pic of the Minor with the headlights please? Either post it here, or send by WhatsApp so I can add it for consideration.

. TIMED TARGETS……..
WHY do we do it to ourselves…….. ?? I had really hoped to make it to a specific point in this build before the end of 2021. A massive thank you once again to everyone who has added, contributed and built this car, yes it sounds like a broken record, but I prefer not to take things for granted. So part two of today was to make up a lifting mechanism that would allow me to lift the Rezin Rockit body and set it down on the chassis once the engine had been put in place and the engine and gearbox mounts are made up. You may recall that Nigel Alpina99 had dropped off a rolling gantry to add my old restored bock and tackle to to use on the front rail of the carport, which was part of the planning and build during our first COVID-19 Lockdown. Well, my mind was blown by just how featherlight it feels in action, with a load added to it. Just amazing. So the first thing to make was a cross brace (not sure what to call this piece) Then trying it out. Raising it, I needed to find some balance, so added a tyre to the rear to balance it all. Calling Doc and Marty. And you said Pigs won’t fly. Gently does it, Perfectly. That will make checking the fit once the engine and gearbox are in place, a lot easier. Really chuffed at this point. And then………. One of the best pics all day. Just how cool is this fit of the steel wheels? Spacers in place, new, wider tyres fitted. I am so chuffed right now. Onwards (In the words of Paul Y )

Discovered an older thread via Google Images tonight. Turns out it is RR’s thread from the past. forum.retro-rides.org/thread/214930/tamiya-tikya-otj-content-insideBut it does show where I would love to get with this car. Look oh at and for wheels on 4x108 in 6J and up to 15” diameter to use. I have copied the pics over for those too lazy to click and go look. Love the style. Tamiya / Tamiya style Named after a respected builder of this style, these are the more traditional of the Owner Type Jeeps here, but this style is still defined by its lowriding wide wheeled, low arch gap stance. Etc I was thinking of these ones.

Here are the lights on the minor. Ahhh, I see the Jeeps you mentioned, my feeling is that mine will be too tall to pull off the look of trimmed back fenders. BUT….. well worth looking at as well, anything to enhance the look. Regarding the Moggy lights. Really love that look. Works for me. Sold !

Agree that the kitcar indicators have to go long term, but agree with Glen that the quick and dirty in the short term would be to roll with them for an MOT. Had a quick look at what Jeeps do and can see that the CJ5 has round lights plus big indicators which you could consider as looks more complete as a 'face' Not sure if you were going for a bumper but liked the speed holes look of this one as well, Bumpers could also hide also hide a side marker /DLR in a hole. Perversely I also like the post van look with the oversize indicators on the wings Both of these would need the wings re-profiling to get rid of the indicator mount so might be a longer term plan as a fair bit of glass fibre work to sort so I did have a look to see how Jeep has done it: For a more Jeep look the side marker / indicator repeater might be a key element to consider. Just some musings, even a pair of cheap land rover round lights on a flat plate would look better than the current ones but lights are important to the long term face so need to be right. Keep the updates coming but don't overdo it. James

Looking at the way the side lights and indicators are placed on the pic quoted, I wonder what the rules would say in the UK about all of that. The 400mm rule etc. Surely it would mean that if included in the headlights, it may be passable?

I would have been tempted to try and stick the mx5 dash in for ease of just moving everything over & not having to buy anything lol

I would have been tempted to try and stick the mx5 dash in for ease of just moving everything over & not having to buy anything lol At this point, this is totally happening. nickwheeler and I checked it out the other day. It will be fitted.

Ordered a set of new front shocks. Still need to do a set for the rear as well. Running around getting new tyres fitted to the second pair of wheels and a few other jobs.

My original plan was to have this pretty much set i]up like a “Banger Racer” to run as basic as possible. So using as much of the MX5 and making the whole thing as easy as possible to get back on the road, would be my ultimate goal.
