Adjustment van also Be removing 4 corner bolts and putting them in the next holes behind the normal ones 😉 Thom Not sure I understand what you mean mate. I mean that you do not need rails for adjustment for mot but a system of unbolting and Bolting in holes nearer or further from the steering Wheel is also adjustment. Thom |

Maybe the shortar$e tester had the hump because he couldn’t reach the pedals... my mate is 6’ 6”. 🤣

  I thought I recognised the steering wheel, I had the same in my ‘82 Cortina Crusader. Similar but the spokes are angled in the opposite direction. . . .  |

Looking forward to seeing how this turns out. I didn’t know things like this existed. It’s much easier than body dropping a real jeep! I remember seeing retrograde at rrg and to be honest I thought that was a body dropped jeep.

Aaaaahhhhh..... Thanks Glen. I will find out. Having pre SVA'd - SVA'd and IVA'd kit cars there is absolutely no need to have runners / adjustable seats - or even seats for that matter ! Never has been a requirement in my time playing with plastic cars - and that's a long time - and even today there is no requirement for seat adjustment. Latest round was 2014 - Fisher Fury IVA to the latest regs - fixed seats no problem. There are plenty of requirements for seats in the latest regs but being adjustable is not one of them. More importantly none of these regs relate to cars already registered. Also not an MOT requirement. ETA - Out of interest is it on a Q or the Donor year plate ? - If on MK3/4 donor could be Tax free which would be a bonus. Q plate, 1992 reg. So I will pay for a long time..... But what price fun? I have known for some years, and wanted for some years, and even now, this is a kinda silly thing to build. But the voices made me do it. They do come up with some rad ideas. But I do like the idea of wheels from other makes, or some simple details to change the look. |

Looking at the tail lights on the car, one lense is missing on the drivers side. Mk2 Capri and they have a wedge shape. Looking at what’s on eBay, it certainly is way more than I want to spend.  So I think that unless I do find a lens to replace the missing thing. These may just be the answer. £27.00 including postage from Bulgaria.   I have time, so the search is on. |

I like those more modern lights.
At the end of the day, the Capri lights would have been used because they were cheap and available when the car was originally built, not because they were physically, dynamically or aesthetically the best ones for the job. If f they’re genuinely going to cost that much to replace the one missing lens, then I’d be looking to find something better looking, better performing and more easily replaced; and selling the originals on to someone with a Capri to offset the outlay. The main thing is to hold your horses until you can see exactly what’s been done to the tub to fit them, because ideally you want any replacements to be an easy fit rather than sparking a whole raft of unnecessary bodywork.

I was wondering if you wanted a set of Jeepy lights from here. They're not that expensive.
You'd have to have the obligatory kit car Ring fog light bolted on somewhere though, they're 21/5 red and a clear lens, with reflector.

Yes. When I helped my mate finish his Dutton Phaeton in the 80s we fell foul of it. That was pre IVA, just the MoT test. The car’s got to be drivable by another in an emergency, and that person might not be the same size as you. It doesn’t need to be infinitely adjustable, but it has to allow a “reasonable range of adjustment”. Things change, so it might be worth checking, but regs have got tougher, not slacker, in the last 30 odd years. Might be a case of luck. My Dutton has fixed seats and passed many MOTs like that. Only one it failed was due to "presented in a state that was too dangerous to test" or similar. Transpired the MOT tester was the size of a truck and couldn't fit. Not sure that was really fair to record as a fail..... |

Transpired the MOT tester was the size of a truck and couldn't fit. Not sure that was really fair to record as a fail..... Could well be. It was a long time ago, and we weren't really experienced enough to argue with the tester. Looking at the current regs on the .Gov website, any adjusting mechanism must work, but it doesn't specifically state that there must actually be a mechanism. The Phaeton had a legs outstretched driving position and, to be fair, I couldn't drive it with the seat fixed in position for my mate. He just chucked a pair of Land-Rover runners under it and represented it the following day. |

That's kinda what my tester said if it's not there I can't test it, bit like if child seats are fitted they can't test the rear seat belts. |

It sounds to me like the tester was in a state that was too dangerous to test I follow Eddie Hall (worlds strongest man 2017 and world record dead lift 500kg !) on utoob and he did a day doing his wife's tasks, watching a 167kg 6'4 man get into her Audi TT must be somewhat similar to the tester mentioned above...... |

It sounds to me like the tester was in a state that was too dangerous to test I follow Eddie Hall (worlds strongest man 2017 and world record dead lift 500kg !) on utoob and he did a day doing his wife's tasks, watching a 167kg 6'4 man get into her Audi TT must be somewhat similar to the tester mentioned above...... name drop - I go to the same gym as Eddie Hall, or at least I did whilst he was still competing I've not seen him for a while but I go mornings instead of evenings now - It takes a lot of the pressure off knowing i've got no chance of competing (not that I've got any chance of competing with anyone any way ) Nice bloke by the way, no attitude at all. |

Years ago there was a TV series called trouble shooter. It was about failing businesses. The main guy visited Triang toys where they were making a green plastic army jeep. It had shovels and picks moulded into the sides. The firm went bust and the director setup on his own. He started making jeeps for girls in pink but they were still in the same moulds with a pick and shovel on. It was quite funny really.
