Even the dash, speedo etc needs to be a bit like Mini, all in one dial or similar. Digital dash would be a good way of getting everything in a small display, check out Urchfab on youtube ( www.youtube.com/channel/UCqvXGJXKeLCm6zg-JagDdzQ), he's built a Ford 1100e with a MX5 engine/suspension lots of good ideas. Brilliant. And they kinda weigh very little. Thanks.

From the UKGSER Forum. Some plans and advice. Sparkplug lives in Cambridge so a detour to start and end with. Still to be investigated, nailed down and fine tuned, but this sounds a good way to deal with it. Could this be the way it happens? Quick short term update. Last night I thought it wise to celebrate the REZIN ROCKIT long before it had even been given wheels where it is laying in a pile of detritus next to a body shop. This has been fun before with less to celebrate. And as an aside...... craigrk sent me a pic too. Saying anyone who owns a “Jeep” should have a shovel. Or as he likes to say, “You do love to dig a hole for yourself” This may be the bit of extra weight on this build.

Only the special editions of the NB MX5 came with a 6 speed IIRC.
Looking forward to seeing how this progresses.

Cool, being a 2000-ish model, this is bound to be 5 speed Buy donor mx5 Drive to Scotland Transfer running gear Drive eagle home LOL Glenn Thanks for the PM Glenn, and the generous offer. Wouldn’t that be cool, buying. Driving and transferring it to the Rockit. Interesting project Rian. Definitely in for the ride. Thanks mate. I hope it does not fight me completely. Could be a nice thing to do.

Oh another thing - keep the seats from the MX5 if they're not in bad nick. They're pretty small, and fit in almost any chassis - possibly even a little plastic jeep

So where do I start when wanting to break hearts. Bill went to look at this on Friday night before going on shift, fighting fires. As mentioned, his Report was that he would be happy to buy it for himself. Good enough for me. Thankfully he took a bunch of heartbreaking photos. This is why I spent my money on, 10 minutes after his approval was voiced. Tell me why I bought..... headache does not count. Previous owner had it 6 years.....; long enough to grow a lot of moss and fungus. Front end From? Rear end From? Engine bay. Empty Safety equipment Lacking (got radio) Tank Relocated Prop shaft “Present” Carpeting, gauges Yes. So it looks like it has potemshul. With team Retro Rides behind me and a few friends alongside me...... It will become something. The Rezin Rockit.... Remember , history can repeat itself. Lightening strikes twice (sometimes) Remember the Not a Project Chevy Blazer? forum.retro-rides.org/thread/206373/grizz-chevy-blazer-stranger-2020This is how I saw it in June 2016 on a driveway where it had stood for 13 years. And how it looked after Less than a year With the help of Paul Y in the snow And then the Money Shot. SOLD OFF IN AUGUST FOR A NETFLIX FILM ROLE. NEW PAINT REVEALED MARCH 2020 So now just need to get it here and start collecting bits to put together.

Looks like it's cortina based and in pretty solid underneath, I'm guessing all the electrics will be shot, you could incorporate the mazda parts though.
Are there any wheels?

Based as the brochure says - Cortina Front end is a complete Cortina front subframe MK3/4/5 Rear end is Cortina complete - MK3/4/5 - looks like one of the radius arms is disconnected Tank looks bespoke Probably had a Pinto in it. ETA - looks like a Cortina dash pad Wheels only taken off the O/S? Thanks mate. I saw brochure, but also know people often use whatever is about, and would not know the difference. I will take stock once all is together here. Wheels were removed, it will have random rollers to get it loaded. I have ideas on wheels, steels or alloy.

But will come with random rollers. Wish there was a set though. Even Welles’s. Wiring like many bits will just need to be addressed. Not sure how much of the MX5 wiring has survived along with the engine and box. Will use whatever I can to get it afloat.

Dunno how much you've paid for it but the Cortina bits are probably worth a few quid now. I was getting 200 quid for a complete IFS 10 years ago.

Last thing tonight, unless my friend Insomnia comes to visit again. In order for us to all be singing off the same Nando’s menu, a few very simple objectives for this build I want this to be a side project, if that is even possible. It needs to be really simple and without fancy programming, machining and trick parts (all that is relative of course) Easy to find parts and maintenance, using as much standard parts nd as much of what is on the car. Low, rather than high. As silly a power to mass ratio as one can get without sacrificing r3liability. There is just no use in building some exotic car that’s always broken down or waiting for the next exotic parts. All advice, help, guidance thankfully accepted. This following car is not exactly what I want to build, but certainly my general direction. Built for fun, to do the hill climb at RRG ‘18 in a short timeframe by a large team of friends and knowledgable chaps. I have been chatting with @phoenixcapri as well, he has given some advice and may be along with more. Thread here: forum.retro-rides.org/thread/205104/heap-retrograde-2018-special-eagle?page=1 There is,this. And from far away, these are probably in a different league altogether. This is the idea. VIDEO: Bed time , Bootfair in the morning, it’s bank holiday after all. .

Just wondered on the wheels as they are still on the N/S in the photo's There are some wheels, possibly two on it. The seller went to add another two yesterday afternoon to make it a roller. It is currently blocked in an alleyway, behind piles of rubbish. Aerial Pic tomorrow of where it is sat. Dunno how much you've paid for it but the Cortina bits are probably worth a few quid now. I was getting 200 quid for a complete IFS 10 years ago. Hi Matt, If I sell off it, what is there, I then need to go out and buy replacements pets and make them fit. Not sure if I really want to go down that route. I am inherently lazy.

I don't really have anything to add, other than back when I first started as an apprentice on the lorries we used to call Fodens and ERFs "Resin Rockets" as they had fibreglass cabs (no rot and low tare weight) Which I suppose applies here too. As you were....
