Hi all, This might not be real retro content yet but as it is a rare car here in Australia I thought I might put it up anyway. I had an fairly significant accident about 2.5 years ago and haven'r really worked much since. I might go back in January. To have something to do while I am getting back on my feet I picked up a study and started buying and selling cars. It started of me selling my Alto. I made some money on it and bought a Pajero/Shogun and made a bit more, I bought a Honda CRV and made a bit again and then I bought a beautiful Toyota Landcruiser and made a bit more. Then I saw this cheap and nasty Tigra for sale at the end of our street. $2200 as is where is. I got a day permit and drove it home. It goes really well and the only few things I noticed is that the ABS light is on and it has 4 different tires in 4 different shapes. The paint is absolutely gone. It's faded beyond repair. I need to do something about it. I have thought to plasti paint it, or use a ute bed liner/raptor paint it. As it was cheap, I might go the raptor paint way in a satin black and paint all trim and badges high gloss black. Give the windows a dark tint and paint the wheels black too. Anyway this is the Tigra open Tigra closed and the paint

So funny seeing a Vauxhall or Opel or Chevy being called a Holden.
Is the paint a base colour or metallic?
I hate Satin/Matt black.
To me itโs kinda like its consigned to the scrapyard.
Why not rather get a set of race car livery stickers to cover the dead paint, sort the ABS light and move it on a fun car for a young at heart driver.
Think Prozac.
Or if there is a chance to two tone it while covering the old dead paint......

Always liked these, is it a 1.8? Is there room to squeeze a 10kg Westie behind the front seats?

Quite often is flat black the last station a car's live or purple.... I haven't made up my mind. a 2 tone might work. I have had my little Suzuki with all the stickers on it. Maybe there is a black Holden/Opel/Vauxhall race car I could "replicate". The mechanic is coming Monday morning. Will take it from there. Cheers!

Rare is the word, I think it was only a few hundred sold here, and completely forgotten which doesn't help saleability unless you see one in the metal. Gloss black over satin or matte please, even if you skip the bother of metallic (never understood the point of metallic black). Stickers / stripes sound like a great distraction. Must admit to a dislike of black wheels on a dark car too though, with dark grey/bronze at least allowing some visability & character.

Not much done to the car today. Our local mechanic did a read out from the the computer. The battery is on it's way out, the rear left hand ABS censor is not working properly and my interior light is not working. I'll give the battery a good charge but as the car has been sitting for some time and the battery appears to be older I might have to get a new one. No problem at all. Interior light not working...I put that in the "what ever" box and might look at it at some stage. The ABS sensor, I give that one a good clean and see if there is any damage. The mechanic (from a very brief inspection) thought it was the original sensor. He also noticed that the rear brake pads are almost gone. The rotors are still good I think.
It has the 1.8 liter motor. It must make the car a fairly quick little thing. When all the technical work has been done I can get it registered and give it a good run. I am looking forward to it.
Cheers

I am still tinkering with this little Tigra although I haven't done much with the Tigra. I have been playing with my Patrol and our new Slide on camper. However, the Tigra is now registered and insured. I have taken it for a few short runs. It's a little pocket rocket. It's willing to work hard and goes, for what it is, really well. It's a bit wandering all over the road, not to bad but it needs looking at. Tires are of very dubious quality. I bought a new rocker cover gasket as it is a little wet around the cover. But the main pain is the ABS sensor. The ABS sensor (rear passenger side according to the computer) is not playing ball. I cleaned it and for a minute I thought that I fixed it. Unfortunately I did not. The ABS light is on again and my speedo doesn't work. I know this is related to the ABS issue. I have started with sanding the car back. The only thing is I don't know what color, and whit kind of paint. I have thought about Satin black, predator paint, normal high gloss black, plasti wrap...

Nice Patrol.
These little Tigris go really well.
Chinese Ditchfinder tyres can be interesting, had a set on the Transit a long time ago.
With the original engine, and limited power they were absolutely fine.
When I added the Zetec, it was a bit more interesting.

Not much of an update here. Still waiting for my mechanic to give me a hand replacing the timing belt, engine mount, water pump and some other small stuff.
I think when this is all done I will move it on. It's not my car. I don't feel any love for it. But getting it up the scratch first, will see after.

As I have time enough and the little Holden is a bit of a slow go project I have bought myself another project. It's a Honda CRV. I sold my CRV not to long ago. Although I don't regret selling it I did really like it. When this diamond in the rough came up for grabs I bought it.

It's hard to see on the photo's but this is one very neglected little Honda. I have never bought a car as dirty as this.

I saw an Odyssey for sale. It was cheap and ready to go. I washed the years of grime of. It has a bit of a dent And I found a little rust. But that's already repaired now. The tires where no good and the wheels were really damaged. I found some really clean wheels with new tires. I am hoping to find a new mudguard, new headlight and some small bits and pieces

A little history on the car. The last owner owned this car for the last year. He grows a bit of crops and runs some cattle on his 100.000 acre property. His property is easy to find as his main entrance is right next to this well know pub nindigullypub.com/This pub is about 7 hrs west of my place. His kids are at boarding school on the Gold Coast. He and his wife would fly in and use the car when at the Gold Coast. So, in the last 10 years he did only about 30.000KM. He had it serviced yearly but washed about every never. His kids are now able to drive them self so it was time that this one had to go. Normally these cars go for somewhere between $4000 and $6000 I out bit a car dealer and bought it for $1400 It has a 3.0 V6 Automatic with all the bells and whistles. It was very grubby but that gives me something to do. The SRS light is on. My mechanic will check this on his computer

I am thinking of keeping it for a bit. As a private you are allowed to sell 4 registered cars a year. If you sell more you need a dealers license. I have sold 5 registered cars this year. Now I don't think that they will pick me up on this but I don't want to get on their radar either. And I like this thing. So, I would not mind to lowered a bit. About 50mm would look great. I want to replace the LH headlight. It's badly sun damaged. The fender needs repair or replacement and there are some trim bits broken and missing.
The leather upholstery is in bad shape. I'll get some covers tomorrow

I found new window regulators the other day. So, all windows work perfect again. While at the wreckers I found another white Odyssey. I bought the mudguard and replaced the dented guard with my new one. The color is a little of but I can life with that. With the new mudguard and the new headlight things are looking quite good now. I finally had my computer read. It appears that the drivers side belt buckle switch is kaput. I'll get that done asap. I also bought sheepskin seat cover for the front and back. The leather upholstery is not much chop. The covers will hide this but also protect what is left. I have bought everything second hand. Even the seat covers. However I have bought new rotors and pads. There is a bit of a shake when I hit the brakes. That's a job for Monday or so. I bought the car for $1350. With all work done, parts etc I am now at $2500 and according to Google 2,500 Australian Dollar equals to 1,378.34 Pound sterling Not bad I think.
