Aero, is there any NOS/Genuine SAAB sheet metal still available? Or are all replacements recycled? Cheers, John SAABits have some new bits, such as wings (£300) and inner wings, as well as replacement parts for classic areas of rot (transmission tunnels etc), and I found a lovely drivers door at Jam Saab in Bristol from a ‘recycled’ aero, so it’s a case of hunting around. It’s the plastic ‘Tupperware’ (the plastic aerodynamic body parts) that’s harder to find, and headlights, front grills etc, but luckily the community around these cars is excellent and there’s a great deal of generosity between members.

Are they original steels? What did you do to get them to be more pronounced? Did you use spacers? What is the width and profile of the tyres and the J of the steels? They are standard 6J 9000 steel wheels, no spacers. The standard 900 steels are 5.5J and iirc both are ET39. The tyres are Hankook Optima 4S 195/65. It's currently on silver wheels with 195/65 Nokian Weatherproof tyres, the centre caps are modified Citroen Berlingo ones.

Not to create a run on those steel wheels, but they fit a 105/115 series Alfa rather nicely, allowing a stealthy upgrade from 14" to 15". Only a 1/4" spacer is required, rear only, because the wheels' centerbore is too narrow to clear the Alfa rear axle hub center. I did it to my former GTV; will look for a photo.

The 9000 steels are plentiful and cheap and they're a very common PCD (4x108), so it should also be easy enough to find something similar that fits. I've only seen it a handful of times, probably because most people prefer alloys, but it's also possible to fit 16" Peugeot/ Citroen steels to a 900.

I have the 5.5j set but now I really need to find some 9000 steel wheels in 6j. Is your car standard height?

Is your car standard height? No, it's slightly lowered. Can't tell you by how much though, I fitted second hand lowering springs, which I suspect may be the same height as standard aero springs. Normally a 900i sits about 2cm (or 4?) higher than an aero I think? It also has an air lift kit fitted to the rear springs so I can actually use that massive boot without the rear bumper hitting the ground. When I bought it it had Kilen lowering springs fitted, those were pretty horrible.

Nice work on the inner wing - and love those pipes - although I converted my water turbo feed pipe to braided hose to ease removal. Same turbo as mine, the awesome TE05 - 12B.
Are you going for a 3 inch downpipe? Also strongly recommend relocating the battery to the boot area as it really gets too hot in it's normal position - the heat shield in between the battery and the manifold elbow is my least favorite bit of the cars design.
Relocation is really easy to do. You will need a boat type battery tray with a screw down holder for the battery itself, and doing the relocation also frees you from the rare expensive battery the 900 needs - the positive and negative terminals are swapped in position, making batteries harder to get and expensive.
What I really love about yours is that it has the flatfront bodykit and bumpers, later style front end and 4x108 stud pattern.
I am assuming that you don't have the front wheel handbrake? Not much fun at all until you take it to an MOT and watch them do the handbrake test on the rolling road. ...
If you get stuck for any spares, give me a shout. I have a chargecooler setup but needs someone who can weld aluminium as the cooler itself has split inside. Those make a much better alternative than the stock intercooler (which is totally ineffective due to it's daft position)

I'm so happy to see her being saved! I really like an OG 900 and should be buying one myself. Can't really see why I haven't, since you can still get them for reasonable money.

Those make a much better alternative than the stock intercooler (which is totally ineffective due to it's daft position) Thanks for such a comprehensive reply! In answer to your questions, I think I do have a 3 inch down pipe (matron), and am thinking about relocating the battery, but as I spent £145 on this beauty, which can be bolted in anyway but upside down I think I’ll keep as is for the time being: The mixture of bumpers isn’t necessarily on purpose, thanks to the generosity of members of the uksaabs community, I do have slope fronted bumpers and side parts to go on, but that will only happen in time. There are just so many things that need doing! Hoping to get the engine is over the next 10 days, and as she hasn’t been on the road since November, will be a momentous moment when we fire her up. Am very interested to see what type 8 primaries drive like too, having only driven a Carlsson before, which I think also has them, and was very laid back, we shall see.
