Ok so when I took her back off the road end of 2019, I knew I'd try to get as much as I could done I knew needed sorting myself......at home......on the drive ...with the Welsh weather. I'd always known there was a small hole in the inner wing (common rot area on a mk2) so started addressing it as best I could....this is what I discovered 🤦🏻♂️ Jenni

I also made a carbon fibre inner wing cover .....something I've always wanted to do rather than smooth it over... Goes with all the carbon inside the car 🤣 Upgraded the original mk2 8v brakes to 256mm 16v ....and now upgraded to G60 spec 280mm......they are veeeeeery snug under the 15 inch wheels I run Also as stated before I've done this swap into this car with a little help of my mate and the previous owner of the engine conversion

I had a mk2 jetta I modified quite heavily maybe 3 years back, drove amazing. Only had a kr with bike carbs and a lightened flywheel but the reviness of the engine was perfect for the car.

Love Nascar, trucks are my favourite and I’ve just bought a mk1 ford ranger pickup which I intend to give it the Nascar look. Can you give me details of the wheels and tyres please car looks cool but the way!

So it's been a while.....been updating and aiming to get this to weekender at goodwood with her new look.....had alot of issues with wiring loom. it's been out twice, there was no throttle pedal after a few mins, checked everything known to man and had to re send it back to the loom builder despite my best attempts. So now that it's back in and tested, turned out to be an incorrectly routed power supply to ECU. So pedal now works Rev counter works Temp gauge has been wired in by me And I can confirm rather splendid boom tube stock car noises have been installed!!! Not long until mot now and the few fettling bits and nice bits to be fitted......but it's a car again 😉 Livery is incoming and I need to do alot of tidying, but this will never be a show car .....I want it to be fun so that's what itll be......also sod stretch tyres .....stock cars don't have them 😉

Also as I thought I've missed alot out. Also refurbed a rear mk2 beam and re painted with polybushes which was a nice little upgrade Also managed to Fit my prosport gauges for temp and voltage which for me was great, due to all the wiring woes I had with this conversion. But at least I have a decent temp gauge to keep an eye on temps. Next port of call is to get an oil pressure gauge to run off mk2 sensors and a t piece. Loom had to be sent with ECU, pedal and any other part to try and source the issues I had.....won't miss taking this out again 🤣 In between all the action my mate got married, and we had to reshell a whole mk2 and convert it......which was done in a couple of months....that included fetching the shell and him rebuilding his vr lump....which was no small feat!!.....I'll upload pics of that next....

Update Recently I've been flat out on the NASCAR mk2. All in the aim of getting her to Retro rides in Goodwood in may. So here's a few pics of what I've been up to recently So she's been liveried up in my period choice of livery drawn up by my friend and applied by me.....more on that later But huge result for me fitting my custom Badge up at last and getting a few last bits done for the MOT.....including a day before dash with the ball joint and tie rod end as when I moved the car....the driver's wheel was a little.....knocky 🤣 Also I've been skinning carbon bits and made some dash blanks for myself for once....also a few parts for a MK2 polo coupe....it's all practise I was also super lucky to have been in touch with daughter of NASCAR legend Smokey Yunick!! Who sent me some epic period stickers I'm proudly displaying on the car. I think a good nod to NASCAR of yesteryear. So .....before you ask... SHE PASSED!!!! Absolute joy from me!! After all the work and time. First run on road to the MOT was fun, and even got told off by a farmer on the way back...dude to my Boom tube and a touch of spirited driving 🤣🤣 Worth it!! Few little bits I want to try and get some before the show, but the livery pics will be next 😁

THE LIVERY. So.....I chose this livery for my car as it is a story that I love and based on one of my all time favourite cars and drivers. There is a YouTube documentary called Bonneville 71. Truly worth a watch and tells all the details, but it's based on Bobby Isaacs record breaking dodge Daytona stock car. One of my heroes. So ok...my golf is no where near a dodge Daytona....but as Ive said ...the car was always going to be as if VW had a muscle/NASCAR league styled golf So here we go ladies and gents, few tweaks and custom bits on the livery to suit me and my build......but here you go!! Alot of people won't get it Alot may not like it I Bloody love it!! I've had this image in my head for so long that to actually see it now looking like this is absolutely epic to me. So.a few more tweeks and bits to do and I'll be content. In total a huge smile and cannot wait for its first proper drive and to get it done for retro rides.
