Getting there. When they had a manifold like that on sierra cosworths they fitted a bracket between the head and turbo otherwise they shook themselves to pieces, from what I remember it was clamped with a couple of thackery washers that allowed it to move with thermal expansion etc but damped the vibration.

Indeed no wilderness here, very much enjoying the build. Just very little of use to contribute. Anyway, as you were. Can't wait to see this thing start by the way.

Thank you phil and horrido , much appreciated , i was beginning to think there was no one on the forums any more ! well, in the midst of the silent tomb that is the world of forums these days , i thought i would announce to the wilderness, the puzzle is solved ! Yup. i was wandering through the multiple rooms of Robert Castle today , and i spied an old number plate , and instantly , like a american dallas flashback , i realised what had happened .during the vast will he or wont he move house saga at christmas , i had cleared the loft of stuff ,and found this plate and thought.. BRILLIANT ! hey,, there's my "D" ! so i brought it down , but NEVER TOOK THE DIGIT OFF THE PLATE ...so it was never on the mantle piece in the first place . what a noodle. it was a bit manky.. so in no time it was de plated , sanded ,and etch primered , and given a coat of honda insight mk1 silver i happened to have left over (thank you catherine) i much relieved to have found this . don't be a stranger , regards robert I do love rediscovered treasures, especially rare bits. And the transformation of course. Looking great Robert.

This is turning out rather splendidly. Imagine if turbocharging was more commonplace in cars during the fifties. Potentially the Armstrong siddely sapphire turbo would have been the Sierra sapphire cosworth of its day.

thank you for the kind comments , makes a difference orl righty.. Yesterday i worked on the oil drain from the turbo , i found a long steel drain pipe , and bolted it on and then bent it to suit like so .. main priority is to get it away from the tubes of hotness . it then pops into the sump like so .. THen , today ,i worked on the oil supply system , the old banjo off the block connection had a 30 thou orifice , so i bored the thing out to 4mm.. then drilled the metric 10mm fitting to suit its podgy 11 mm diameter ... and assembled ready for insertion.. this was popped into a 6mm 1 metre long hose , and was a trial to get back on the block from underneath . ! next i made a T piece with bits and pieces.. this sits in the line , and gives a take off for the oil gauge pipe. finally my silver paint arrived , so i could assemble the rest of the exhaust .. and the tail pipe sits like so .. then i filled the engine with oil , and tomorrow if its not too rainy i can rebuild the oil pressure gauge , and connect that up . onwards ! regards robert

I've been following since the start, very much enjoying the can-do attitude and fabrication going on. I'm also looking forward to hearing such a gentrified automobile make whooshy boosty noises! I think folk will be confuddled
Carry on!
