I have a project (water heating conversion) and I am looking at having the heater hoses and the heater unit being of different bore. Whats everybody's favourite methods of jointing these? Cheaply. Without leaking under under pressure.... PLease state your sources... (Heater hose is likely smaller bore than the union thing on the heater unit.

push the smaller bore hose inside the larger and wrap with gaffer tape.

not sure that will hold under pressure. I've done that and jubilee clipped them before when the bore of one was similar to the OD of the other. I don't have either part to hand yet so dunno what the difference is, but chances of them fitting are 1 in 1000000.

Last time i had to bodge do something similar was on a tractor. I went down the local plumbing shop and bought a pipesize adapter. If i remember right it was from 1/2" up to 1" but you can get different sizes. Just stuck the hoses on and tightened them up with two jubilee clips. Something similar to this.. www.marinshop.de/shop/images/2821211.jpgDidn´t cost much and is still holding up after a couple of years!

Stant, and also Motormite, have a line of those adapters.

Wish I'd known about them when I did my engine swap on my manta, I paid about £15 for a dirty great industrial joiner meant for hydraulic systems. no way it was going to leak/break though .
