1983 Mercedes W123 200 Saloon for sale in 'Taxi Ivory'.
Carb engine, not injection.
Previous owner had this car for 23 years, but had known of it from new.
It was bought by a Sheik from Saudi Arabia for when he came over to do business in London. It was subsequently changed into his name from his company, then to a friend of the family whom I purchased it from.
It has 175k genuine miles and these are known for clearing 1million miles believe it or not and many are still used as taxis today - If you look at the MOT history online you won't be coming across and consistent 'heavy rot' etc, because it just doesn't have any; the underside is nigh on immaculate.
It has the 4 speed auto box and it runs and drives wet.
It has been meticulously maintained by the former keeper with oil changes every 6k miles and whatever else it needed was done.
Unfortunately the front seat don't match the rears as the drivers seat was replaced due to the first owners chauffeur being on the larger side.. ha!
It is very straight and underwent a full, windows out, respray in 2001.
The manual sunroof works and the drains are free and clear.
It has had a 'home' repair to a scratch N/S front and rear arch as the owner scraped it on the wall backing into the drive, it also requires a bit of welding to the rear O/S arch, but other than that it wants for nothing!
I'd assume around £3-400 to have it rectified.
They seem to be fetching anywhere between £3,500-6k in superb condition and no history.
Due to the two bodywork issues and the front seats not matching the rears, I've priced it accordingly at:
£2,700 - No offers.
The car can be in either Hampshire or Sussex for viewing.
It also comes with a bag full of spares, window rubbers, ball joints etc.
Photos to be uploaded in the next day or two.
