Yep that hole has been there a long time by the looks of things. No apparent cracks, rust or nasties so I’m not overly concerned. I’m having it taken care of in the new year once all this lockdown stuff has passed. mungo How much access is required to change a clutch cable and from which side of the tunnel?

Loving all this beetle bug action..
"How much access is required to change a clutch cable and from which side of the tunnel?"
I recall replacing my Skoda Estelle acc cable with a Tandem Bike rear brake cable [cheaper + stronger] I tied a long length of the very strong, thin cord.. runs inside Cat5 data cable, to strip sheath.. Tied to end of factory cable, pulled out one way, then pulled bike cable back through.

Knowledge is to know a Tomato is a 'fruit' - Wisdom, on the other hand, is knowing not to put it in a 'fruit salad'!

I was recently sent some images of the beach buggy by a previous owner - what a time warp they are! The buggy started off life on a different number plate and was originally orange with completely different wheels and 1200cc motor: It was then sprayed yellow and had white wheels fitted in the early-mid eighties, and at this stage had some purple paint applied but the owner changed his mind & went full yellow - I found remnants of purple while doing some body work. Interestingly the buggy also featured an engine cage which is no longer fitted - presumably removed when the new 1600 engine was fitted: It was then transformed again with nice shiny slot mags and a new registration number and had the canopy added too. It's fascinating uncovering the history of this buggy - which is sixty years old next year.

That’s cool That looks like a pancake motor from a type 4 in the earlier guise, but with an extra duct on it

Man I’m bad at updating this… This buggy was a serious fire risk. The deeper I got into it the more flammable possibilities I found.. Here’s a video of me fixing the fuel pump. It used to fluctuate buzzing so I figured I’d sort it out. If it was wired anything like the rest of the buggy it was going to need some attention… If you fancy please follow on youtube
