Built this stupid thing a few years ago now. Been sat on the drive after I decided the shell was too far gone. It was pretty patched up and then was crashed into twice during my ownership which has put a big twist in the body through the floor. The chassis is still dead straight so been on the look out for a decent shell to fix it with. When I had it on the road the mods list was:- Very chopped springs Chopped bump stop towers Converted to RWD 15x10 Fatboy wheels with court proven legal 225/50 tyres. 30mm spacers Silly paint Pro-Top Hard Top roof Lots of audio kit. Was a proper laugh to drive round in. As I mentioned it was crashed into twice, I ended up in court for the tyres and it probably annoyed far more people than any other car I've owned.

What was the issue with the tyres?

What was the issue with the tyres? A bit of a guess here but as they extend out further than the body, possibly an argument of whether the sidewall or actual tread pattern was exposed!

They tried doing me for the stretch as if I was found guilty it would have been 3 points per tyre and a huge fine rather than a 40 quid fine or whatever it was for them sticking out. 3 court visits later while they brought in more and more "experts" and me and my dad (without assistance of a solicitor) proved that they were all wrong. Final appearance judge actually made the CPS and police stand infront of us and do a full apology for wasting my time.

I should mention when the car got crashed into second time it was written off and I bought it back. The first crash I got cash of the lady who hit me. When I added up the payout and cash versus what I'd spent to build it I think I was about 70 quid in profit lol.

Wide Vitaras have always been cool, but I didn't realise that until they all but vanished, great to see another one done. love the artwork on it. On the subject of cars getting written off, best result I had was buying a tatty Maxi for £80, finding out it was only cosmetic and had zero rust. It got rear ended and the insurance company based their value on the condition of the body and mechanicals, and considered it as 'condition 1', dispite have 1 door the wrong colour. I did well out of that, then the garage gave me the car back and I made more money out of selling the trim and then gave it to someone to race.

I think the buyback on this was about 40 quid or something daft. Got £940 and the car.
Trying to find a straight-ish shell isn't proving easy. I'd rather get a narrow shell as they don't seem to rot as badly but most I see are mangled from off roading.

Couple of photos I found on my phone that show the paint off better. Used to look pretty cool with a coat of quick detailer stuff.

Glad you stood your ground and won. Love the car, by the way!
