I got this at the beginning of last year for £150, best £150 i ever spent, originally only purchased it for a cheap run around until my project car was done (pulsar GTiR ) of which i thought would be 6 months but 18 months later its still not done.... However, i fell in love with the bloody thing, it is so comfy and spacious inside, i drove it over 500 miles in one day and i was just as comfortable when i got out of it as i was when i got in it.
After it was done being used as a van for fixing up my ex's house i removed the roof racks and my dear lord, it actually felt like the front wheels were now in contact with the road going down the dual carriageway.
The first thing i did was put a new sound system in it, new head unit, vibe 4" speakers in the dash, vibe 6x9" in boxes under the front seats, vibe 1000w amp and a powercap, great base base from the 6x9"s, better than the 8" vibe sub in my ex's car.
I got bored over the past couple weeks and started looking at bits I've got kicking round and bits that were available to get my dirty mitts on.
In my boredom i wondered what it would look like with the project car wheels on, as you can see they were a bit of a tight fit and they had a little bit too much poke to make it legal, 16x8 ET0.
So, naturally, i had a little look on the interweb and found some arches to suit, BUY IT NOW.....
Then i found some H&R 40mm lowering springs, BUY IT NOW....
So i got the angle grinder, welder, headphones and set to work, as you can see in the photos i had to cut a lot of the arches out to get them so have some form of suspension travel as i had progressive springs (roads aint to good around my area) as i appreciate my spine.
After a couple afternoons ticking away, fully welding up the rear arches from bumper to sill and giving a good dash of paint and underseal the rears were good to go, i had to cut a large portion out of the front wings and use a lump hammer to clearance the inner wing (need a sledge hammer to complete it), I still need to finish off the front wings, do a final trim up etc.
With the new suspension and wheels its like a go cart, gone are the days of it feeling like it was about to fall over at the sight of every corner, my next purchase will be a polly bush kit, yes, they actually offer a kit for it, after that I'm going to build a custom 2.5" stainless exhaust, i can even get a stainless decat manifold (thanks to the same engine being fitted in corsa's). There may be a engine swap on the card, i've got the measuring tape out and it appears to just fit in there, that will also change it to RWD, and TURBO . Why bother doing all this to that turd you ask? I reply with why not.
