I've managed to come by a set of glorious old Cit CX slabs. They're 15's, or thereabouts. Possibly "390"'s, but I actually have no idea whether regular tyres would fit I was thinking of tidying them up, but is it worth it? I thought they might look quite good on something else, but 5x98 and possibly ET45 ish means there's probably little they fit, save a few old Alfa's. This is what they once would have looked like... What do we reckon? Waste of time?

if you end up not usong them I'm sure someone on the citroen owners club page would be interested.
from a brief glance on google they appear to be 14" though I wouldn't be surprised if there are metric variants, it will be stamped on the wheel somewhere.
its not just an old citroen/alpha pcd, they used them till 2010 on alfas and still used to this day on fiats.

I thought they would be 14's, but the rim itself is roughly 16" edge to edge, so the 390 would translate to 15 and a bit inches mounted I think. There are various markings stamped in the 'vanes', but I need to wire brush them a bit before it will be fully legible. The offset is the biggest issue if correct, as ET47 would likely scrub anything that had 5x98 PCD from what I have figured out. I did consider dipping them with something interesting, but it seems a bit sacrilegious and, above all, pointless.

Et47 would make them adaptor friendly though : 25mm Adaptors converting them to a more popular 5 stud PCD might bring them out nicely on a 5x100 vw for example.
The potential metric tyre fitment would be their death knell though so that’s the main thing to confirm first.

Yeah that's kind of what I was thinking - could see them fitted on something VW with some sort of terrible tyrewall choice!

If for whatever reason nobody wants them for wheels, surely they will make nice coffee tables or wall art?

If for whatever reason nobody wants them for wheels, surely they will make nice coffee tables or wall art? Possibly, but it could be subjective as to whether they will make nice ones. The wheels are a bit niche and generation-specific, as opposed to some of the timeless 5 spokes or OZ-Rally-type ones.

That's a shame. Silly question time - a 390mm is 9mm more than a 15" rim. Would it be possible to machine, say, 6mm from the beads and outer edges to allow fitment of a 15" tyre? I think they're great looking rims, and as said the offset allows use of adaptors on most vehicles

It is a shame, as you say, but that's how it is! Took a punt, learnt something in the process. Might need to offer them to the citroen clubs of some kind.

If tyres are £400 a corner it would possibly be worth getting them splitrimmed, that way you could make them 16", and their coolness would be off the chart. Just imagine them in their polished and black deepdish awesomeness.
Ooooooffffff…...

I'd roll them on my 806 with a split rim conversion.

I'd roll them on my 806 with a split rim conversion. If you're brave enough to take on the project let me know

I'd roll them on my 806 with a split rim conversion. I fail to see any reason why this isn't already happening.

If you're brave enough to take on the project let me know Cirtanly don't weigh them in! Nah, won't do that with them, but might clean them up for fun. Just have no idea what to do with them once I have done so!
