A returning CEL problem kept annoying me. The car would cut out under full power due to to high rail pressure. To investigate this the good way i would need to have my injectors checked and spend some money. I figured it was a good time as any to upgrade some more.. so out went the 136 bhp 10v engine.
Now i'm in the middle of converting to a 175 bhp 20v engine. Luckily it's based largely on the 10v, meaning alle the lower parts of these engines are similar. So things like sump, enginemounts and gearbox adapter just bolt on.
Cooling system, exhaust and inlet manifold, intake piping, turbo, exhaust and wiring need work.
But this engine will make something like 230-250 bhp with 500-550nm. Will need to keep it down a bit to not kill my gearbox immediately... The more modern ecu actually has the ability to limit torque per gear zo that might help a bit. But i'm sure it will be a fun ride with 1070 kg kerbweight.
The new engine being assembled to see how IT all comes together. I'll take more pics soon.
