Been looking through these forums for a while now and finally decided to sign up and share my 1990 Ford Fiesta popular plus 1.0. This is my first car as I’ve been messing around on motorcycles for the last 5 years but couldn’t help myself from buying this, its only covered 27,000 miles and had no welding work done, sitting on escort Mexico steels. My plans for it so far are just to keep it as tidy as it already is whilst doing odd jobs such as painting parts, cleaning and refreshing the interior and adding some braided brake lines. Feel free to comment. Cheers, Ryan

I'm quite a fan of the Mk3 Fiesta,
Yours looks fantastic,I'd leave the steels on it if it was mine.

Nice nostalgia trip thanks. Looks clean and straight, as nice as the wheels look I can see why you'd want to swap them with something of same age as the fiesta, presuming you mean mk3 xr3i wheels?

Managed to get the tyres, valves and weights off the Escort alloys today, made a start on sanding out the curb rash and now weighing up wether to get them sandblasted or just continue to sand them myself.

Can't believe I've only just seen this. Looks great. The escort steels are excellent (you seem to have chosen the same alloys as me too). Could you post some more picture for us when you have a chance?

Very nice. Another vote for the steels from me. Not that you see that many mk3's around these days but they really set it apart from the rest , that and the condition. Strangely i saw a mk2 last week on the same wheels...though finished in white they looked pretty grim.

It looks a lot nicer with the sports steel wheels on than with alloys.

Great little car, I have had far too many fiestas since I passed my test, but never a mk3... if only I had the space, time and money!

Current setup is new oem shock absorbers with 35mm lowering springs, sits just right for me possibly add some wheel spacers but other than that it suits the shape

Decided to stick with the Mexico steels and just refurbish and sell on the Escort alloys, thinking maybe a metallic dark silver on them.

I always prefer a subtle lowering job. Mine is standard shocks and -40mm springs. The ride is slightly pot hole sensitive but generally rides well. Also developed a few rattles in the boot since lowering, I think it's the boot lid or some of the trim.
