things have slowed down a bit lately on the red top ,did manage to make these rear caliper mounting brackets to mount Ford Sierra calipers and had to turn this spacer to take up the slack in the clutch cable because of pivot point mods first one was to short so remade mock up sprint rad TR7 expansion tank redoing the brake lines in Cupro nickel the caliper is mounted lower to clear bodywork now the axle as been narrowed and to keep me busy I went and bought this bag of sh1t there's some history of it on the autoshite website came with no engine or box, interiors really good apart from the front seats engine bay not to bad bodged over sill repair think its been off the road a while, the smell and the colour of the petrol in the tank would suggest its true been busy collecting parts for it, thanks for looking

Hoping its going to aid handling ,built 2 sprint engined cars years ago and the difference with c20xe car is night and day, quoted weight for sprint engine around 150kg,red top around 120kg,being a small car it makes a big difference.

I’ve said previously how much I like your work on these appealing cars. I’ll add that I’m amazed to see those two NOS rear quarter panels, doors and whatever’s in the bags; I’m assuming they’re like hens teeth?
Best, John

Haha by the end of this I think you'll be personally responsible for about half of the good condition 2-door Toledos left on the roads of Britain! Any plans for this one engine-wise? Talking of light engines I wonder if a K-Series would fit. Similar to the Sigma Zetec/Duratec they're a smidge over 100kg (105 if I remember rightly, or 98 for a 16v non-VVT).

That's true but its a long box and there doesn't look like an easy way of shorting the linkage ,I've seen one fitted in a Dolomite were he cuts up the floor to install it .Beauty with the Toyota box its only 24" from bell housing to lever.

I keep got thru this thread looking for snippets of info, and of course, I have a question regarding the Escort hubs, How much, if any does the escort hub alter the offset, toying with the idea of using my spare wheels I have laying about, and getting bigger brakes,

Thankyou mr shoey, very helpful as usual, I have a set of compomotives that are FWD ish offsets, I may well bang the studs out and offer the wheels up, if they fit, there could be a wheel swap, and I know they will suit the car, same as fitted to my old van

Its hard to tell from this angle but the heater core intake is obscured by the back of the cam cover so with a bit of head scratching I came up with a plan to move the intake hose up about 2", the sheet steel is off the Beams car old door skin formed a couple of 5/8" rings then tacked together, I ll braze together properly next week test fitting, you can also just see the blower brackets this shot shows how the blower exhaust is originally angled down slightly so removed mounting tabs and rotated the blower clockwise slightly and rewelded the tabs back on I know the performance of the blower will be down slightly but I can live with that and there's no gapping holes in the bulkhead also got to fit this old Falcon Sprint exhaust I've had knocking around for years, back box has been shortened 6",thanks for looking

I had a w58 in my cortina behind a RV8,despits probably 100s of launches at santapod, Never broke it, I did also make a quick shift for it. it has well deserved reputation for being a tough box.

Thanks Ian that's good to know Picked this up from rally and competition equipment over at Biddulph ,its an Ashley RWD XE manifold for a Ford Escort/Opel Manta Ive heard somewhere they make good power in the rally escorts wether mine will now I've cut the long secondary's off to fit the shell time will tell Its almost in, the flange is touching the thermostat housing and needs trimming to clear and the strut tower may need a small dimple in it, primaries are 1.75" compared to 1.5" on the standard Astra/Calibra manifold so at least it looks a lot beefier.

Good friend Jim again alerted me to this on Facebook marketplace and I was onto like a rat up a drainpipe ,so quick trip up to Leeds. the bloke selling it had inherited it and some other spares with a Toledo. so for a £100.00 there's still bargains out there.
